Blues vs Force Rd 12. Fri May 2, 2025

Blues are back to the 6-2 split. Papali'i has returned but not Clarke. HE-WHO-MUST-NOT-BE-NAMED-AT-HALFBACK-HAS-BEEN-BANISHED-TO-THE-PENROSE-INDUSTRIAL-WASTELAND. Suafoa seems to have gone with him, unfortunately. Renata back to shore up the TH props.

Tele'a being unavailable and Cole Forbes being a non-event this season even gives a perfect reason for shifting Ioane the Lesser out to the wing. Related, I saw Forbes at Royal Oak Pak'nSave a few hrs ago looking like the quintessential Te Papa side of Onehunga denizen. Should've biffed my bag...

From what I recall seeing about the Blues injuries, Clarke should be back but probably not Papali'i. Though Dalton on one foot would have more positive impact that Segner. If that's not an option then just go full France and play three big lumps in the loose forwards. i.e., 6. Cam Christie, 7...

SRS week 11. Chiefs (+1.90) and Crusaders (+2.05) extend their leads, the Reds (+1.27) reverse their slide, and the Hurricanes (+0.41) continue rising like a bad smell. Force (-1.88), Blues (-0.64) and Brumbies (-0.20) crash.

It will make it all the more funnier when they win from 6th with a 7-7 regular season record using the patented three step championship strategy. Step 1. Charlie Faumuina to jump onto he-who-shall-not-be-named-at-halfback from the top of the Sky Tower Step 2. Name Akira as the replacement...

This is absolutely not the Cotter Blues. Vern-ball is power rugby straight down the middle. It won the title last year and has reversed this years performances since the bye, so I don't see any reason why he'd abandon it for this match.

Thought Cotter might've run with another 6-2 bench tbh. Plummer at 10 is unexpected. Finlay Christie still lingering around is not, unfortunately. Cotter has also passive aggressively brought Sam Nock back for the first time in a few weeks.

Injuries and trying to play too indirect with the toughest schedule for the first half of the season. They've now cleared most of the injury list and playing the 2024 direct power game.

Good old Beauden sinking the ship by deciding to run into a connected chase rather than kicking the ball back down field. Otherwise, a BP loss is a good effort given the TH propping circumstances. Fortunately the remaining matches are all very winnable.

Glad to see Sullivan slotting straight into fullback. His kicking game is a huge asset, especially if it will be wet. Clarke's carrying power will be missed in close. Perhaps Lam could be used at times. Though Lam should also be running pretty hard at Dave and his cooked achilles. Is Aumua still...

Might as well go for another winger. Rieko, for instance.
