John I. Dent Cup 2016 - ACT Premier Rugby

Apparently there was a ACT 7's comp held last week. Does anyone know anything of this or get along to watch?

Theres a couple of lists running at the mo, which one? The colts or merit teams? Also, its great that there are options but should perhaps qualify your choice somehow....more consistent, better kicking game, scored more tries???

I was told that a 17yr old played some 1st grade for Easts this year. Obviously, youngsters playing for lowly ranked clubs may not make it at the better ones, however this lad must have some potential. Anyone know of this?

Pardon my ignorance, but besides playing 7 games, what would qualify a player to make the team? You could argue that the Griffins should cover this, although they are more flexible in regard to amount of 1st grade appearances

If Easts dont take part, maybe our Colts team could take their place. We're assembling a fairly hot side and they could be called the "JD Forum Colts". Reckon they would give most sides a good run , they would gain great experience and would help in eliminating much of this intra-club animosity

Did he play 1sts? If so, the in he goes at No 9...thought he was the best 1/2 on GF day also, although his forwards were on top

Couple of good young blokes running round at Gungahlin too. Thanks Greengrass... can you name them and their positions. Remember, they had to have played 1sts and would they take the place of other colts playing in other clubs

Spot on Monkeyboy...Loyalty is one thing, being a dickhead is another. Have found over the years that any animosity towards other clubs come generally from old hasbeen 3rd graders and young hangers-on. Most 1st graders have respect for each other

The future looks rosey for Royals then The criteria however, was good enough to play 1st grade this year.

Nice to get some informed feedback from a fundamentalist Royalist...gives everyone else a sense of balance. The requirements were however, that the colts have played in the top grade. Maybe you could start a thread with "the best 23 colts in 2015"...requirements being they must be born and bred...

Trying to get some info on colts who played 1st grade this year and presumably may have a crack at the top grade next year. It could be argued of course, that the colts from Tuggeranong, Queanbeyan and Royals would walk into the top spot at the other clubs. Any additions...thoughts...

Out of interest, do readers have knowledge of the top try/point scorers in their respective clubs? Had a look at Rugbynet on the Brumbies site and for whatever reason, it only had stats on Gungahlin, Queanbeyan and Tuggers

Perhaps narrow nominations to 1st, 2nd and colts??? Will be interesting nonetheless.

Yes a good game very even as the score suggests. Royals forwards were bigger and more consistent, Tai and Mann were good. The Vikings forwards while excellent at the set piece, were outplayed at the breakdown. Perplexing then why they rarely used their backs which had been their strength...

colts should be a cracker. 2 a piece this year I believe

Can the regular contributors perhaps give a brief report on the colts games also, with a focus on players with some 1st grade potential. This is particularly relevant when previous thread have been discussing depth or lack of...nice to see some positives.

Sam Giltrap played the full 90 for Vikings. Still eligible for colts, scored a good try and did all the right things

    AIC Rugby 2012

Can any Marist lads tell me what happened to Sam Giltrap. From what I saw of him last year and the trial games this year I figured he would be a certainty for firsts.
