Super AU R2 - Reds v Rebels Suncorp Stadium 26/2

I guess for all of the discussion around tempo, what isn’t being talked about is the idea of “going through the gears” That is , using tempo more strategically - knowing when to push it and when not to. That’s my frustration in watching the Reds through the first two games - it’s just push...

    Under-20 Competitions including Oceania & World U20s

I don't believe you can leave John Connolly out . Nor will they. He, Grealy , Pasitoa , and Flook are the sure things (as starters) of that back line NB: George Blake is the best front row forward across any of the 3 starting spots up for grabs. That and Hamish Roberts would be my first...

Super AU R2 - Reds v Rebels Suncorp Stadium 26/2

Helluva game by Richard Hardwick. Shit luck for the Rebels but their defensive commitment was pretty good and gave them every chance Reds set piece looking the goods

Fair enough - but I think you (and perhaps a lot of others) are sleeping on Jeeps. I don’t think they will be top tier but I reckon they can be there in the final 4

I wouldn’t expect much out of Easts. Probably the biggest disappointment in Colts Rugby last year to be honest and don’t figure to be much better. Outside of Brothers and UQ , I have Bond, Jeeps , Wests and South’s ahead of them - probably in that order. Although, with Bond , it will depend...

Although is also alternate Stewart and Petaia in attack and defense and use Petaia as a counter attacking 15 in defense and play Stewart in the defensive front line with Paisami

    Reds 2021

Paisami and Petaia in the centres Stewart at fullback Filipo and Vunivalu at wing Jock as a game breaker from the bench against tired defenders down the stretch Seems pretty simple

There are hard luck / sliding door stories everywhere. Plenty of great players or players that have the potential to be great just don’t progress beyond a certain level and that’s just how it is. Anyway ....Thomas is the best pure talent I have seen come through at 9. My biggest knock on him...

Pfff. Agents are what they are but here in Australia they are babes in the woods compared to their species around the globe. Media usage and fan base pressure is the most obvious play in the book. It's sort of amusing we expect some "Sir Knight" type of commercial morality from these guys...

Doesn’t JOC (James O'Connor) also hold a NZ passport ? A RSA one too ?

I wouldn't call sending out 100 form letters out as masterful recruiting or planning. Granted , the token element of what it is, is something further beyond a "tell your mates sausage sizzle" I guess in Uni's case they have some tuition and boarding scholarships that do,by themselves,bring...

Good post and you raise a lot of excellent observations and questions , that , for me flows into a side (systemic) issue. Rhys Van Nek's season - with the exclamation mark of his Grand Final performance is hardly a head scratch or a "where did he come from" or a QPR loyalists claim of "our...

I thought Paisami's ball handling ability really improved this season. Having said that , he wasn't exactly coming off a high base here. And prior comments on his tendency to gamble a bit off the line , defensively , is fair enough. However , this is , and will be easily fixed. He has shown an...

Some context as to why we are so apparently bereft of quality 10’s Mack Mason. Lol. Can’t believe he was bought up in the mix (above) but apparently James Tuttle being discussed as a Super Rugby possibility in a play making role is .....what was the word ? Oh yeah that’s right ......madness...

Nice to hear from you again Reg I direct you back to the original article as was reported in The Australian and how it was written with a direct reference to the warm fuzzies off a highlight reel that was sent and a signing not long after Right after I acknowledged the strength of the...

I have no horse in the race and I agree with your comments above but he does seem to have a couple of enemies.

Little Lynagh may well have the chops and it is pretty hard to argue against England’s pathway production over the last several years . So he is a genuine prospect. But the devil’s advocate cynic in me also suggests there is a bums on seats / eyes on screen PR silver lining around “young Prince”...

His better value , IMO , is having him as a dual threat in the centre with Petaia - which should make it a bit easier for Petaia and the wings. Stewart just isn’t the same threat , and , you don’t lose anything in the defensive punch with Paisami. Let Jock and his broken field skills beat up on...

    Reds 2021

Yeah don’t mind that. It’s well balanced and it allows you to bring Jock Campbell off the bench as a circuit breaker with Hegarty and CFS in the back up spots I would be more inclined to play Stewart up in the mid field defense off set piece and leave Petaia back as a counter attack threat ...
