    CAS Rugby 2014

As I said…we were obviously watching two different games. I will be interested to see how Trinity's 'well executed moves' and 'magnificent running rugby' goes against some of the more credentialed sides this year.

I can only say that we must have been watching different games. Trinity lost 3 players altogether to yellow cards (two of whom were off at the same time for a total of about 4 minutes). Must admit I didn't see who your star inside centre was, and believe me if there was a star on either side...

    CAS Rugby 2014

Based on today's rugby version of Dumb vs Dumber at Summer Hill the bottom section of that appears accurate to me. With perhaps a view to clearer skies ahead for Waverley though, the 16s collectively put on 150 against Trinity to 7 against in three grades. I think 16As was 26-0 to Waverley.

I think he, like everyone else at that stage just didn't know what else to do. Based on the day's defence though, if he'd tapped and passed it (and someone didn't drop it) there was a 50% chance they would have scored.

    CAS Rugby 2014

Saw most of the Waverley v Trinity game. Trinity won convincingly 40-20 in the end and I must say were the better of two very average teams. Nearly (if not all) of the tries on both teams consisted of one person breaking lots of tackles and either scoring himself or passing to someone else to...

    CAS Rugby 2014

The only group I saw were the 16s, who haven't trained as complete teams yet given the cadet absences, and this was the first game they had everyone on the paddock. So far the As beat Cranbrook solidly and were down 5-0 to Augies when the game was called off. The Bs lost 3 tries to 2 to...

    CAS Rugby 2014

Not sure what the 'issue' quite is that we're talking about. The last three years with no scholarship players, less resources than most of their opponents and with teacher coaches the school came runner up in 1sts. And we haven't even started the CAS comp yet ! By the way, a significant...

    No tour for Waverley.

    CAS Rugby 2014

Undoubtedly this year's Waverley opens aren't a vintage rugby group and the smaller numbers won't help with depth. New coaches in the 1sts also need some time to adjust to the demands. It also has to be remembered that co-curricula activities also impact on trials results. For example...

    CAS Rugby 2014

Before we leave the current travails of Waverley, as a parent at the school I couldn't help but add my comments. Schoolboy rugby is cyclical and Waverley is no exception. The 16s have been poor the last two years (big soccer numbers in this years Year 11) so this should be reflected in the...
