RWC 2011 SF2: Australia vs. New Zealand

Will definitely be an interesting match. Some people are really questioning the Wallabies after today's display, but to win with only 24% of possession is an incredible feat. Quade's not in the form we'd like him to be, but we all know that he could turn in a MOTM performance as he is so...

    RWC 2011 - Quarter final 3 : Springbokke v. Wallabies CLOSED

Horne's still out, isn't he? Deans said his tournament was over, but you never know. Hope he's alright, didn't even think of him. Much prefer him to Ant.

G&GR Wallaby Player of the Year v Boks (RWC QF)

    3. David Pocock 2. James O'Connor 1. Will Genia HM: James Horwill, Pat McCabe and Stephen Moore.

    Poll: Cooper at 10?

Completely agree. Our biggest problem was that we were putting in useless kicks constantly, rather than good kicks sporadically. Kicking straight to the Fullback is just stupid and Lambie counter-attacked brilliantly. Barnes' kicks were all thought out, making good ground without any mistakes...

    RWC 2011 - Quarter final 3 : Springbokke v. Wallabies CLOSED

The worst thing is that it's a repeat injury for both of them. If they're both out of the SF, are we likely to go: 9. Genia 10. Quade 11. Ioane 12. Barnes 13. Fainga'a 14. O'Connor 15. Ashley-Cooper or are we likely to pick O'Connor at #15 and put AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) on the wing? Perhaps even Turner to #14...

The change in rules since 2007 is halfway to paying dividends

Well said Potjiekos! Who cares about trying to make the best of the third most-watched sporting event in the world the best showcase of talent there is by encouraging running, free-flowing rugby when teams can just play a game of penalty kicks? Pfft, next people will expect a try every game...

    Ben McCalman - Analysis

Dave Dennis for mine. Palu is great when he's had a bit of game time, but that's been years. He's too injury prone and I agree, he's likely to head to Europe eventually. Higginbotham isn't the ball-of-muscle type #8 the Wallabies need, and his work rate is well below par. Schatz isn't quite...

    RWC 2011 - Quarter final 3 : Springbokke v. Wallabies CLOSED

With Burger at blindside they could cover Brussouw pretty well. Especially in comparison to us losing Pocock.

    RWC 2011 - Quarter final 3 : Springbokke v. Wallabies CLOSED

For me, two big positives in this: a) We're finally starting to adapt a more horses-for-courses approach in regards to tactics, as this is a pretty big change from 'play what's in front of you/throw it anywhere, anytime'. b) Barnes is likely to be starting over McCabe. Thank God.

    RWC 2011 - Quarter final 3 : Springbokke v. Wallabies CLOSED

Lucky for us, BdP isn't going to be starting. Moore's considerably better than Smit, so that's one in our favour. I don't think our props match up to Beast and Jannie, but Kepu has the ability to really perform. Just a matter of 'if'. Our locks can easily match it with the Saffas. Horwill and...

Drew Mitchell out of the World Cup

Most of those players have played those positions for either the Wallabies or consistently at S14/15 level. I said Ioane could fill in at 13, if required, I didn't say he was a great outside. He has played a full season there for the Reds though, in addition to the entire 2009 Spring Tour. Same...

Ashton always finds a way to ruin everything.

Wallabies at the Rugby World Cup 2011

Bring in Baxter, Robinson and Turner. We need forwards with grunt and that never-back-down attitude, which those two have in barrels. Turner's got pace, utility value, a great boot and vision. Our most under-appreciated back IMO. Chuck them all on the bench, with McCalman dropping off the bench...

RWC - G&GR Man of the Match - Wallabies vs Russia

    3. Barnes 2. Pocock- would be an easy MOTM if he had have played another few minutes 1. Burgess

Drew Mitchell out of the World Cup

A great thing about our backline is the versatility. We should never find ourselves in a position in which players are playing in a position they've never played in before. Quade and Berrick can both play 10, 12 and 15 at a stretch. Ashley-Cooper is either first or second-choice for every...

Drew Mitchell out of the World Cup

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/rugby-gold/mitchells-world-cup-cut-short/story-fn8ouw0e-1226155001171 Poor bugger. At least Ioane should return next week. Will this mean Robbie will finally call some players over, or will McCabe take the #22? He'd be a good candidate, being familiar with the...

Wallabies vs Russia - last game before the QFs!

Disgraceful. Pocock is the X-Factor. Forget Cooper, forget Beale, forget O'Connor- Pocock is the edge.

Wallabies vs Russia - last game before the QFs!

Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck. Suddenly our wealth of depth isn't looking so good. Poor Drew. O'Connor/Ioane definite starters now.

Wallabies vs Russia - last game before the QFs!

Barnes, Cooper, Pocock, Mitchell, O'Connor, Higginbotham all impressive. Higgers' support running has been great and I think it's one of the Wallabies' biggest strengths (esp. Beale).

    Robbie Deans

Jerry Collins? It's a sad day when Peter de Villiers is a better coach than Robbie Deans. But it might just be the case after Dingo's disgraceful display during the RWC. We have sacrificed 4 years of glory in the name of "rebuilding towards the RWC" and it seems like it's all for nothing...
