Ok, let's move on.... to next weekend. Easy picks are Barker to beat Trinity and Waverley to put St Aloysius gently out of its misery. Knox and Cranbrook could be competitive, though. I think Knox edge it, but Cranbrook will go in with plenty of confidence, and Know will be a touch bruised...

Ah, OK. But here's the thing: in recent years, the CAS-GPS game has quite often been played on a damp midweek night under indifferent lighting (eg at Knox). Should we tell the selectors not to pick Waverley players for games like that because they're consistently terrible in those conditions?

No. Well, I don't. I think they have a decent shot at third, though, as they should beat Cranbrook and St Aloysius.

WLF, as you know, I never write off Waverley.

Trinity's oval is out of action due to construction. They played at Forshaw on a Friday night because it was what they could get. Not ideal for anyone, but nor is it a conspiracy. Also, for what it's worth, if this Trinity side has a strength, it's their wingers. So it's in their interest to...

Well, this has all gone pear-shaped pretty quickly. I've looked back over the posts and I don't see any "boasting" over Trinity's win. I do see a lot of excuse-making from posters associated with Waverley. In my view: * Yes, Waverley has more depth than Trinity. And always has, although I...

    Not the question I asked!

Did anyone predict Barker, Trinity and Cranbrook sharing the lead after Round 1?

Sorry if it wasn't clear enough for Waverley.

My modest proposal: let's drop the use of the word 'dominate' unless your team wins by 30+. If you lose 5-10, you haven't dominated anything, although you may have wasted a lot of possession, or squandered a clear advantage in the scrum.

Just a little scent of sour grapes there.... Why was the ground more difficult to see for Waverley than Trinity? Anyway, that was an upset I did not see coming.

Trinity went down to St Augustines 14-47.

Well, it could be a verb. Meaning “ the act of composing poetry”. For example: “What art thou up to, Shakespeare?” “Oh, not much, just a little versing.” In any other context it’s an abomination.

Yes, I agree - and as a Trinity old boy and Cranbrook parent, I think I can offer an even-handed assessment. Cranbrook did not "win the forwards". Levi Funa made some great runs, and Cranbrook's scrum looked marginally stronger: but Trinity's lineout was better and they were also marginally...

Good news on Ah Kolt. I don’t know how suspensions work in non-competition games but the old practice was that a red card meant a week off.

I recall that Prideaux was in last year’s Trinity side. Whoever it is, get the ball to him!

So a few seconds before half time in Cranbrook v Trinity, Trinity 5 hit Cranbrook 2 Johann Ah Colt with a high no-arms tackle. I didn't have a very clear view, but the referee awarded a red card and that seemed right. The trouble is that Ah Colt stayed down. There are fears of a serious...

Only Rugby I believe. Rugby has unique challenges at school level because of the safety implications that arise when physical mismatches occur.

Details of the new competition format are here: http://www.cas.nsw.edu.au/cas-announcement-on-combined-rugby-competition-for-2025/ Congratulations to the schools involved for doing something proactive and long overdue!

Well, except that Trinity was third in 2023 and would have been joint premiers had they upset Waverley in the last game.
