    The Ideal NSW Schools Comp

THE ABOVE POSTS WERE MADE IN 2014 OR PRIOR TO THAT - ED Thanks for all the posts about reorganising high school comps which is obviously one factor. But isn't the greater challenge trying to turnaround junior rugby enrolments. Generally boys have chosen their sports by year 7.

    NSW AAGPS 2017

It's just my opinion mate but as mentioned it's based on a number things I see. Of course there are those at Shore taking rugby seriously but like with all things, there are those that talk and then those that want it as badly as they need to breath. language teachers with little experience...

He would get my vote :). if Pulver and co over saw Rugby in decline at Shore, how can we expect him to do a good job at the ARU!

No. I mean that many parents think that if their sons don't play A or B grade they should play another sport....."don't waste your time playing in the Ds"....or "the school should offer another sport". They are missing the point of school sport (ie playing competitive sport in a team....etc)...

    NSW AAGPS 2017

There are signs that rugby no longer has full support at Shore. That is, AFL posts on the main oval, impressive number of reps in 2016 but only 1 win.....no good junior rugby player would want to attend Shore if they want rugby to be a big part of their schooling. To be fair, I think the...

    NSW AAGPS 2017

Yep, I agree. Former-flankers view is why rugby is underperforming. Too many 'debates' from helicopters. It's so simple. The boys get on scales when they provide ID and the registration form at the beginning of the year. The other thing soccer do well or at least my sons club is they have a...

    NSW AAGPS 2017

I have been reading the posts about falling rugby numbers and what the ARU should do about it. I had the pleasure of coaching an U8 club team this year. The club caters for U6 to U10, then U11 to U17. My son played in the team I coached and he also played soccer. The main deterrent for...

    NSW AAGPS 2017

I think there already is but they weren't rugby players. They were 'one off' gym junkies who didn't play sport and it was certainly not part of the school program. Regardless, I will leave it that.

.... it's choose your own adventure in the east. There's all sorts of temptations for boys with cash they didn't earn.

It would be virtually impossible for a school sports program to be involved. However, there is talk amongst scots parents that some boys use steroids and perhaps this is what joker is referring to. They weren't rugby players, in fact they were bad at sport and they just wanted to get pumped so...

the joeys firsts eat separately to the common joeys student so they could also get on the supplements if they want, if they aren't already. In my day it was protein powders and creatine and there are now reports that these products may have caused Lomu's demise. If you are suggesting the Scots...

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2016

It's human nature to be most critical of those closest to us. I'm not close to Riverview so don't feel it's appropriate for me to comment too much about that school. Soccer and rugby is enough. Soccer on the main is fine. I watched shore firsts soccer beat Newington last week to lead the Comp...

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2016

Given the success of rugby sevens which is highlighted at the olympics (tv ratings have been enormous, female rugby sevens is the fastest growing sport in the world), if anything they should be pushing rugby sevens. Bad decision Shore. Sydney is the only place in the world where rugby is under...

If you are that good at swimming, you give up every other sport. Swimming doesn't get in the way of winter sports unless you are that good.

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2016

I bet the afl made Victorian schools aren't putting up rugby posts. We risk being good at nothing because our numbers are spread thinly. Anyway, times are chang'in. There is some talk that the afl is paying GPS schools money for afl equipment or providing afl equipment if they introduce and...

    NSW AAGPS Rugby 2016

I never thought I would see the day when there are AFL posts on the Shore main!!!!! Variety is great but if there are 150-200 boys in each year spread across rugby, soccer and now afl, we are heading towards 50-60 rugby players per year. That's maybe 3 teams with some reserves.

Joeys should be very disappointed with the repeated short throw line out tries. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks again to sidesteppa for some great video footage. Joeys missed a lot of tackles early and looked flat. Scots forwards dominated all game. Multiple phases from scots enabled them to get big men running at some of the smaller joeys back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think that was joke although the couch grass always looks dead in winter and it is hard in the middle. Almost all boys won't play in front of grandstand like that ever again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
