It would be an interesting exercise to see how many private schools issue "non-sporting" and indigenous scholarships in year 11 and then promote those boys to Leadership positions in the school very quickly ahead of boys whose parents have been paying the very high fees since year 7 or even earlier.
Jimmy Widders-leece has only had a few games this year at Hooker. His try scoring days will be numbered now he is learning to hook and participate in the rucks. He has had some good running tries after retrieving the ball from outside the ruck.
Yes a few of the boys in the 1st rugby teams have had really good athletics careers. Van Zyl (CAS I) has had an impressive shot put and discus career as have some of the other forwards.
I have a concern that village clubs are not encouraging boys to love rugby and feel a sense of pride in being a member of their club. Boys are losing heart and interest at about the age of 14/15 because the clubs are intent on winning at all cost and are not giving every boys who is a member of...
If you care to check back in Knox history, every U14,U15 and U16 team has been undefeated until they hit the open level. Boys develop and change so you can't say that the current Under 14 boys will still be playing 1st team rugby next year. There are some very small boys in the lower teams...
