Taaffe rowed in the bow of the Third VIII. Year before that he was in the 4th Junior. He was a cox in the Quads. Not on a scholarship.

Ah the classical G&G offseason rowing forum: - Baseless and clearly false claims about imp**** - Claims of sub 6:10 2ks with no evidence - xxxx will be in the First Eight - xxxx are favourites! (People, learn that its very rare that the favourites win! St Joseph’s weren’t favourites, neither...

Newington mark their names as favourites along with Shore and St Joseph’s looking to poke their head in. Wide open field in the top three as of now.

That Shore side has potential. Lightning quick hands and a sharp structure. I like what im seeing.

Backline looked rather sharp, Shore 10 seemed to be firing on all fronts with a good connection to the 12. Forward superiority helped them gain the edge, strong play from 7, 2 and 4 I believe.

If this is true, it certainly puts them in a very competitive position. That makes another 5 returning rowers in this years First VIII. Add on Gursoy from the 2nd VIII, then Frederikson and Lane from the First Junior, and that St Joseph’s First VIII looks incredibly dangerous. Watch out.

I’m not doubting that they are the quickest I merely thought that there would be a different combination that made more sense to me. At the end of the day, i’m not at the NTC and I trust them to make a better decision than me.

No Ciesiolka, Hines or Maclean doesn’t make alot of sense to me. I’d much rather have Ciesiolka Stroke, Basha 3, Hines 2 and Hennessy Bow. Nonetheless that is still a very good boat. Best of luck to them. (Tandem rig the 2 and 3)

Did a bit of digging into premiership history, more about championship droughts and this is what I came up with (this one was good fun to look into) Longest ones: 65 years - High (1959-Now) 49 years - St Ignatius (1909-1958) 47 years - King’s (1920-1967) 43 years - St Ignatius (1975-2018) 42...

NSW Trial is the faster boat, that is the grade “1” boat. These lads are within the NSW Rowing system, and the pathways Eight are the challengers, hence the name “pathways” who are challenging to get into the “Grade 1” boat. They may compete in some internal regattas, although its more for...
