Agree with Mr Wood Rat entirely. Having watched both games, the Sydney forwards contained Reds in the first half something the Schools pack didn't do in either half. Problem resolved if a 1 team was selected. Will have to wait to 2014/2015.
Agree entirely - soft draw for schools and it showed today under pressure. I personally thought Syd vs Reds was more of a contest. Interesting to see from a Reds player perspective who they thought was the harder team.
If you had NSW 1 and 2 isn't that in fact "rationalising" such that you have the best two teams on the paddock with 1 the better team? Or is this not how it is done in Schoolboys?
Good job by Matty - may need a new kicking tee and definitely a new strip!
Every boy goes to school hence is eligible for schools as this takes in GPS, ISA, CHS, CAS etc; not every boy plays club as is the anomaly in Under 16s. In my view this opens the debate on selections with Sydney Juniors having one choice, then Schools having next dibs. Its like picking teams for...
Sydney beat Qld White 27-7. Disappointing result for NSW Schools. Maybe time to push for NSW 1 and 2 and really put up a talent show to stop Qld dominance of carnival.
The standard would be higher if the best 16 year old players were chosen for the teams - remember that two outstanding 16s in Schools are n't playing - Hutch and Kennewell - they would have added some razzle dazzle. Might be similar for Qld. We all know boys who have some real talent who aren't...
I think your dreamin'! All the Sydney supporters had no doubts. Sydney was pacing itself with 1,2,3, and 12, off for the majority of the game and resting 4, 15. It is all about being match fit and injury free for Friday. Sydney looked like they wound down at 20-3.
Sydney 20- Vic 15. Game played before weather changed. Sydney dominated first half 20-3, running its bench players which is good to see. Vic came back in second half, scored in last stanza so again scoreline a bit flattering to the run of the game. Sydney 12 - Hawkins strangely yellow carded...
Can anyone tell me if the Queensland sides are true 1 and 2 sides or are they "mixed ability" teams? i.e. talent spread across the teams.
I know it has been said before ad nauseum, but isn't it time for NSW to have a top 1 and 2 side, maybe also a combined states (barbarians) as we all know...
Sorry, didn't mean they were sub standard at all. Had heard they had beaten ACT so are definitely in the hunt but as Sydney are playing Reds on Tuesday it was more a vested interest comment!
Ok, take one boy from the total in the 16As who started in Yr 7 and you are still left with 6 - the back fillers for positional shortcomings. I hope the independent review looks at the next obvious code of conduct breach. Bit hard to ignore when the boys and parents crow about it.
Scots 16as...
