But that’s with retrospect. We all know that the anti-Rae band would have jumped on the equal worst performance by an Australian team and immediately linked it to her sacking of the coach.
I love how she gets blamed for the poor performance of the team when the highly regarding coaching teams she sought out hasn’t even started yet.
We were starting to see some clarity of vision around retaining talent and building a strong team. It takes time to do so particularly with the many...
I’d be stunned if he doesn’t.
Next steps - Rennie walks (as he threatened to do) and the promising coaching team mostly pull out. Qantas also will decide that they have had enough of this crap and with the company under threat from COVID pull their sponsorship as soon as possible. I doubt RA...
Oh were are so @&$)ed
Continued pointless drama dragging rugby union further and further down at a time when we need to work together.
I really can’t be bothered anymore.
I’ll add that once IF provided a number to settle at, most insurers have a clause which limits the payout to that level. So any upside risk is taken by RA. Not settling would be extremely bizarre.
It's not too far off the truth
If Folau had
- not refused to answer any contact from RA for 3 days
- pulled down the post
- apologised as per the final settlement
He'd probably still be playing for the Wallabies
Direct quote from Folau’s article on players voice
After we’d all talked, I told Raelene if she felt the situation had become untenable – that I was hurting Rugby Australia, its sponsors and the Australian rugby community to such a degree that things couldn’t be worked through – I would walk...
And if they had done nothing and he continued to make controversial comments - as he has done - they would have had continual controversy over the rest of his contract and they would be in a much worse position.
Also if there is a settlement amount and the insured doesn't want to take it, the insurer will normally not pay out any more than the settlement amount.
No they haven't.
There is a long history of settlements in Australia of people being fired for social media posts. In almost all cases they get settled with Banerji going to court and the employer winning. Angela Williamson and Scott McIntyre both settled.
Hasn't stopped more people being...
He is largely unemployable because he is a loose cannon. His comments on the bushfires weren't exactly well regarded and anyone who hires him would have to be aware that he might come out with something which puts sponsors and fans offside.
I would view it as a high risk signing personally...
What's a fortune? It's materially lower than $8 million - unless Castle is lying which would result in her being immediately fired by the board who know the real amount.
I reckon it is closer to his contract amount. Given he crowd funded defense costs, I don't think RA would have chipped in...
Of course the insurer will be losers. They are every time a claim is made.
RA may have an excess but the policy limit was stated at $10 million. Also they won’t have to pay out Folau’s remaining contract (unless that was part of the agreement with the insurer. Impact is likely to be minimal...
Folau’s starting offer was $10 millio. He increased to $14 million which was widely regarded as being insane as it claimed he couple be captain
I doubt whether it was $8 million and RA would have had minimal input into the amount if it is fully covered under the insurance contract
Given I work in insurance pricing, I reckon I’ve got a pretty decent idea of the impact if it were $8 million. Large claims happen.
Of course I doubt it is that much. His initial demand was $10 million. It would be very odd for a settlement to be that high as a proportion of the amount.
Except they have insurance up to $10 million. So it has no financial impact.
And as a single claim, it is unlikely to have a material impact on their future premiums.
