Round 5:Brothers v Wests is shaping up as a must win for the Bulldogs. A win v Brothers would be the shot of confidence that the Bulldogs need.

With respect i honestly think Wests are a long way from finals at this stage of the season. And, Norths despite vast improvement, need to start getting wins as opposed to honourable losses. But I share your passion for a Brothers-less final four.

When is the last time Norths beat Brothers?

The Souths win today has taken them to top of the table in Premier Grade but no other grade 2-4 ( no 5th) is in top 4. it would be a long time since they haven’t had a lower grade team in the top 4 because they always seem to have sides running around at semi final time.

Just looked at what is ahead of Wests in the next two rounds Souths at home and Bothers away so potentially the Bulldogs could be 1&4 - they could be in the same situation as the Penrith Panthers - denying that there is anything wrong. Respectfully the premiership window does not stay open...

The number of players that have moved from Uni to Easts has probably been a major cause and is a direct correlation to where both clubs sit on the table.

Somethings must be going well for Easts as their Premier, Reserves & Colts 1 are 3&0 through 3 rounds - Norths, Wests & Bond.

My point was that I am surprised that Easts, Souths & Norths are all in the top 4. Not many would have tipped Wests to be 1 & 2 after 3 rounds. If Wests can’t beat Souths after Easter (Round #4) and go 1 & 3 there will be some serious soul searching at Sylvan Rd if that is not already happening.

After three rounds I didn’t expect to see Easts, Souths & Norths in the top 4 nor did I expect Wests, GPS & Uni to be outside the top 4. But E, S & N have been getting wins over the other 3 so that is the difference.

That is exactly what Norths should be. Was it not in the 80s that Teachers-Norths merged with Redcliffe to become Colleges and subsequently Norths?

Wouldn’t there be a large Polynesian diaspora up that way? Surely an attractive catchment for Norths at the very least. Norths could host junior carnivals for clubs from Caboolture, Sunshine Coast, etc so that juniors from the region can have an affiliation with the Eagles.

Caboolture should be a feeder club to Norths. Maybe Norths should take one game a year up there. Maybe they could play Bond (I.e. not full compliment of games) up there.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Bond put in a Bunter Bowl challenge as they will rate themselves a good chance against the Tigers at home. I think the last two year have finished with winning tries in the last play of the game. So expect another classic encounter at the pond.
