yes I agree - Peters had some players out I think, but so did Villa. Pats versus Villa will be a much better indication of what's what . Although , Villa has had a strong preseason , and are bonding as a strong unit under new coaches. Their tour of NZ was good with 1 victory out of three games...

Well Villa had three front line players out as well including their Best and Fairest from last year - but I guess that doesn't count in a 95-5 score line ?

Yep fair assessment - I guess we take out of this that Villa is way more competitive than last year and Lauries are nowhere near as bad as this forum has made out. Villa scrum was good but Villa line out was terrible - Lauries were very good at the breakdown and have speed to burn in their back...

Villa V Iona trial on this coming Monday arvo - word is both teams are looking to try lots of combos and blow out cobwebs - but could be a reasonable indicator of what's what at Coorparoo and Wynnum - lots of good talk still coming out of both camps. Trial is at Iona I believe.

Whilst I don't think Villa can win the comp I'm thinking they will be more competitive this year. The Ben Mowen and Andrew Slack development squads are finally starting to bear fruit. The comp needs schools like Villa and Eddies to be up there causing the occasional upset. I predict Villa 1sts...
