    Shute Shield 2025

Hi all, This isn’t meant as a dig to SRU whatsoever (very grateful and appreciative that most of them are volunteers and give up a lot of their own time). The shuteshield.rugby website is very limited in its information online nor is the 2024 annual report available. Outside of RugbyNews...

    Shute Shield 2025

Not questioning Zak as a coach. 2 GF appearances in a row is a great achievement. I’m not sure if he’s responsible for the whole program but for first grade done a great job. It appears the top heavy approach isn’t sustainable. If you look at Easts, it took 5 years rebuilding the club prior...

    Shute Shield 2025

Sad to see. I guess they had a great run with the Sinclair brothers, Burey brothers, Will Miller, Michael Wells, Garry Bautz etc. Seems as though Simon Cron recruited 1st Graders that bought into the club culture whilst Zak Beer hasn't managed to do so. They also had a core group of 4th...

    Shute Shield 2025

Norths seem to be struggling as a club. Only 2 wins from 21 matches across the club to start the season. First grade seem very competitive but the remainder of the struggling big time, particularly their colts. I'd still expect their first grade to finish in the top 6. Understand there were a...

    Shute Shield Colts 2025

Any update as to why North's colts are struggling? Conceding 87 points in a local derby to Gordon in Round 2 makes for a long season ahead. Strange for a strong club like Norths whose 1st Grade side have been competition leaders for almost the last decade.

    Sydney Subbies 2025

Out of curiosity, where do UNSW recruit most of their players from (particularly colts)? Are they students of UNSW who are keen to play rugby, and then continue on to grade? Is there a reason why this can't be replicated at Macquarie Uni? MQ have historically been a strong club (even had a...

    Sydney Subbies 2025

Are the Alexandria Dukes fielding a team this year? I know last year they had a JV with the Oysters. Are there any other clubs at risk of folding?

Having no NRC is better how?

The Melbourne rep team isn't strong enough if they are local Melbourne players. I made it a Canberra rep team to keep their comp fair and enough - otherwise everyone will end up at the one club.

Having no NRC is better how?

Yep that's correct. Let it run throughout September and October.

Having no NRC is better how?

We already have a fantastic club rugby system in Australia – let’s leverage that for our 3rd tier. There would be two divisions. Division 1 (Cup): – Top 6 Shute Shield – Top 4 Hospital Cup – Canberra rep team – Perth rep team Division 2 (Plate): – Bottom 6 Shute Shield – Bottom 5 Hospital Cup –...

    NSW AAGPS 2024

    NSW AAGPS 2018

Have heard that Shore has revamped their rugby program for 2018 including the appointment of Rod Macqueen to their staff. Can anyone provide further information?

    Shute Shield 2018

Any update on Sydney Uni's tour to Japan. Also saw that Gordon recently toured the USA in December 2017. I've heard that both Randwick and Easts are planning club tours at the end of the 2018 season - does anyone know where to? It's great to see clubs going on overseas tours - memories...

    NSW AAGPS 2017

Everything goes in cycles, throughout the 2000's Shore generally came top half of the comp every year (tied 1st in 06) and was always in contention for the premiership towards the end of the season. The big four back then was Joeys, View, Shore and Kings. Scots and Newington would always be...

    NSW AAGPS 2017

What has led to the demise of Shore's footy? Not so long ago they had players like Jordy Reid and Hugh Sinclair running around for them and also had teams capable of winning premierships. I see that they still manage to field around 8 teams in each age group but obviously lacking quality players.

    NSW AAGPS 2017

has anyone got a report on how Shore's tour to the UK went? I saw that they played in two 7s tournaments. Did they play any other matches? A long way to travel just for two 7s tournaments

    NSW AAGPS 2017

Has anyone got an update on Shore's tour to the UK? They left last week however you would think that several rowers would have been conflicted with the head of the river? Any details also on who they are playing would be appreciated.
