yeah some quality players, from what i heard the 15 'pulled a jack Maddocks' after playing firsts and seconds in yr 11 he chose to drop down to thirds.
Tuck, swan, adams and ricci are in yr 12 so wont be available for next season. heres my team for scots:
1. Nick Wiggan (1sts)
2. Michael frino (2nds/3rds)
3. Sam Underhill (3rds)/ Harvey McGregor (16as)
4. Hamish Todd (2nds)
5. dylan hansen (1sts)
6. louis grossemy (2nds)
7. darcy clifton...
Scots were very lucky to get up yesterday and will need to do a lot of improving to beat joeys in 2 weeks time which shaping up to be the premiership deciding game.
Im tipping scots as the 'underdog' premiere but think it will be a struggle for them to win it outright.
joeys and kings will be the tough games as usual and i think if Newington want to be a threat they have a lot of work to do, Riverview could be the wildcard, and as shown by their game...
scots have a split venue this saturday with 1sts 3rds & 6ths at trinity and 2nds 4ths 5ths & 7ths at oakhill (8ths & 9ths at joeys) this along with a few of injuries will make for a tough game for 1st & 2nd XV's
the whole 2nds front row has moved up with Ed mccowan, Michael frino and Kian Blackshaw Filling in.
this leaves a quite underrated player in my opinion (sam underhill) getting a well deserved game in the 3s, after a mammoth performance against cranbrook last week.
Like what i said about Scots, i think it is similar with joeys and kings and the culture within along with the schools/year groups culture of playing footy really helps. say what you want about lambo but he's done a lot of good things for Scots and i think other schools can learn from him. i...
I've heard that atleast 10 boys moved from volleyball soccer ect. to footy in the opens this year, i think for many of the boys at scots its almost a rite of passage to play rugby in opens.
from all accounts newington had a poor turnout for the boys spectating and the parents were outnumbering students by a fair bit, sad as the support of the boys could have been the difference between a thrashing and a tight contest.
great to see Hansen filling in the boots of his old man and good to see some quality depth in a school other than joeys, keen to go out to BH to watch the flying scotsmen give the joeys boys a good run for their money
Anyone from here heading down to Bellevue hill, Should be a great showdown Jack Mossman vs Kaeo weakes, Terrell Kalokalo Vs tolu (from Newington) and Siua wong Vs mack Fell. Im backing the Home side, the forward pack will be too strong for Newington to contain.
