Unlikely at Super Rugby level. Has done it in the underage play but i'd say no right now unless he has a growth spurt.

It'll go the other way Wilso. He'll want to come home and play with his brother down here....

Mayberry the Tahs Hooker has been excellent. Reminds me of Pollard with his speed around the park.

Better standard than last nights game.

Charlie always looks likely. Be good to see him amongst a National squad and getting a bit more space.

Watching the game and I wonder how a Colts squad that trained and competed as a unit alongside the respective senior squads would fair competing in their respective local comps.

An U20s side in Prem Grade?

They’d kill the Grade guys early in the year and as the Grade sides get better they’d get it over them. Aus 20s have played Aus Barbarians before which is all Grade guys and they skinned them.

A large chunk of the kids Aus 20s level are future pros. Most Club guys will never be and don’t have the capacity. The talent difference shows.

Yeah. In terms of the Shute it would be NSW U20s. Based out of Daceyville and exposed to professional S&C, skills development etc. In Perth it would be the Force U20s squad.

Something that has stood out in this game is the noticeable difference in athletic development between the two teams. May be something like that would workout better for the Force.

But getting more games at a level above Colts would do a lot more for their development at a fairly crucial stage. Particularly if its integrated into an academy set up that actively seeks to develop these players.

I like the idea of it but also don’t know who wants to take up the fight with the Clubs who like having these players in their sides for at least a couple of years.

Perhaps they consider extending the Force side to U21 for this competition? (unlikely to assist in ID'ing potential U20 guys for next season no doubt)

U20s works in terms of WR (World Rugby) comp structures but Colts age in general is my thinking. Which is U21s. The prinary goal would be about 1) immersing these guys into more HP environments designed to provide long term S&C, skills etc development and 2) providing them with more structured competition beyond their current age grade using what we have in place at present.

Charlie seems like he’s got that bit of freak in him. Off the mark he looked lightening fast! And pretty massive boot. Pretty much just need to copy how we’ve handled Sid Harvey.

Plenty of AUS U21 guys who seem to disappear into the nether post U20, could prove a good stop gap before making any sort of step up.

How many U20s eligible players do the Force have in their Super Rugby A’s squad?

These two squads plus those Super Rugby players in the Wallabies is the equivalent of needing 70 or so players. Can imagine the Tahs have more depth at SS level to fill out their A’s team whereas Force might be promoting some of their U20s players to the A’s squad??
