Auckland Blues To Infinity and Beyond

By geez the Blues look to have their shit seriously sorted out at admin level, so getting some good recruitment etc well underway.
Makes you wonder about the board they had that had Pat Lam coaching by himself more or less, with the likes of Goldie employed part time to help with backs. Don't believe they had bad coaches in Lam ,Kirwan etc, just no support from the board! They certainly sorted that out now haven;t they (I know with NZR help)!

While the loosies are stacked, the locking depth had taken a beating as Jacob Pierce has also left for Japan, which is disappointing. Presumably that means a Darry/Goodhue duo to start with Robinson and Plumtree covering.

I saw unsourced mentions of it elsewhere before I posted the above, but apparently the Blues are also after Romano.

It’s understood [the Blues] approached long-time Crusader Luke Romano regarding a move to Auckland to help boost their locking stocks, with Blues captain Patrick Tuipulotu’s (sabbatical) and Gerard Cowley-Tuioti’s (Japan) departures leaving them light on experience. Romano, 35, is the 11th most capped Crusader, having played 136 games between 2011 and 2021, but was not offered another contract in Christchurch.

Very unconvinced by the 50-22 rule but in Sullivan the Blues have the best tactical kicking fullback in NZ -- and possibly the competition -- so they sure as fuck better spam it. Get possession 30+ metres downfield for the great big fatties to start rumbling forward, or force the opposition to drop extra guy or two back to counter his flat kicking style and let RTS (Roger Tuivasa-Sheck), Clarke, the Ioane's et al rip with the extra space.

Also says much about the current state of things that I'm exponentially more excited about the fucken Blues than I am the All Blacks.

Also Jonathan Ruru is not listed on the confirmed signings.

Zarn Sullivan locked in for three more years:

That's a good lock in! What the hells happening at the Blues, it's almost as if they have got a competent board since NZR stepped in and got them sorted! They actually getting to look like Crusaders in their forward planning.

NZR have sold the 40% stake they took back in 2018 to sort out the bad blood between the Blues board & the share- holding PU's. Article on stuff.co.nz says "local consortium" without going into any detail as to who that might comprise.

Local consortium is fronted by John Hart & includes Mainfreight CEO plus others who're probably less well known but obviously not short of a quid nor willing to,risk the ultimate humiliation "yeah, I'm a shareholder in Loss Bleus, you may remember us from our & Lam glory years... hey, why you running away screaming?"

^ well the tranny granny grot mags had to be removed in order to determine whether the porn loft was structurally sound. Which it wasn't so it also had to be removed & fed into the same mulcher as the tranny granny grot mags.

The upside is that the resulting blend makes a really, really good growing medium for all kinds of botanicals that aren't strictly speaking legal in all jurisdictions. So try to think of it not as losing a porn loft full of tranny granny grot mags but rather gaining a share in a space rich in the aromas of Coromandel Gold & Te Puke Thunder with a subtle hint of 'shrooms o_O o_O o_O. The other upside is that not only did the project come in well under budget but it's now turning over a tidy per diem.

Tell you what boys, watching Steven Luatua playing for Bristol in Pommyland, by christ there is a player that would be bloody good in Blues, even if just to get Akira to follow him around and watch how a 6 should play. he would be a shoe in starter for ABs too I reckon!

I like it, hopefully at least it'll stop 13 players fanning out defensively across the field in a straight line. You either drop a few pricks back near each sideline or get ready to defend a lineout maul on your own 5 metre line.

Refuse to read AB threads until the omnishambles that are Fozzie, Mooar, Plumtree etc are fucked right the fuck off into the wisdeny annals of nepotistic ignominy tl/drGTFOffs

The starting All Black midfield is Mayerhofler and Mcloud Havili and Tupeau? tl/drffswwft
