Australian Super Rugby Team of the Week 2023

Will have to check if Louwrens is eligible. 10yrs accumulated makes you eligible. He’s had 2 stints in WA and 2 in Vic. Would be fairly close, not that I’m calling for him to be near the Wallabies, just wallabies eligible for TOTW
By my reckoning he's probably just on the 10 years cumulative at this point so should be ok. I have it as: 2007-2009 (2), 2011-2017 (6), 2020 (1) and 2022-2023* (2). That's 11 in total though not all of those years will have been full ones. That said I'm not sure what he did for the 2 years he was serving his steroid ban either, he could just as easily have arrived back in Perth well before 2011, given he then came up via club rugby.

Either way it seems like enough evidence to consider him eligible here. Have also updated the eligibility thread to reflect that.

Too many Force players in these lineups.

Louwrens lived in Perth since he was 16, bar a couple of years in SA. I think he must have hit 10 years now.
The problem with picking Force players is that they have to be Wallaby eligible. Do you think any players from the Force last weekend filled that criteria and got shafted?

… which is why I said 0 were too many. None of them deserved a spot. It was a poor performance.

Round 15

This would have to be the worst round of rugby in history. There was not one player who put together a half decent performance. I need to revisit a couple of games to see who was the best of the bad bunch.

A whole team of Dylan Pitecsh’s would probably go better than all the oz sides.

Round 15

1. Gibbon (Rebels)
2. McInerney (Brumbies)
3. Nonggorr (Reds)
4. Canham (Rebels)
5. Williams (Force)
6. T. Hooper (Brumbies)
7. M. Hooper (Waratahs)
8. Valetini (Brumbies)
9. White (Brumbies)
10. Debreczeni (Brumbies)
11. Pietsch (Waratahs)
12. Paisami (Reds)
13. Walton (Waratahs)
14. Toole (Brumbies)
15. Wright (Brumbies)

Carter’s worst game of the season is equal to other 10s best games. If Jack D was the regular starter I think we would have a clear number 1 and 2 in the comp. We need to see more of Jack next year.

Only Tahs players that deserve to be anywhere a TOTW this week are Hooper and Pietsch.
A couple of others tried hard but if they are to make a TOTW the other Aussie sides must have gone badly!

Did we ever get a team of the year? I rarely watched all matches, so never contributed. But was always interested in other posters selections
