Scarfie, Lindo, others - Are you ok up there?

Damn those arsonists. I hope this doesn't make for a bad summer.

I grew up in the mountains and recall the Dec/Jan ritual of clearing out the gutters and stuffing rags and tennis balls in the drain pipes then filling them with water. I will never forget a summer in the late 70s when we kids sat on the front fence and counted fire trucks in the hundreds go up the highway from as far away as Tassie.

People from other parts of the world say it must be terrible with all those fires every year. To a degree, yeah it was frightening at times but my parents chose to live there knowing full well the dangers and that was just the price you pay for living in the Blueys.

The fires are up the top of the Blue Mountains, PT, I'm down at the other end. Scarfy's OK. I hope. Scarfy, Scarfy, I can't hear you...
