CAS 2019

WTF?

Ted Thorn (20)
WTF, last time you played tries were only worth 3 points ;)

Just after they moved to 15 players on a team right.....

Yes I may have a new account but trust me I've been a long time follower of the threads. I use to enjoy reading about the CAS teams were fairing and the competition was going. First time I've felt the need to comment on the BS. Just because SonnyDill is a longtime member doesn't mean he actually knows much to be fair.

Seen the contract have you mate - must have some real good intel if you know that. I know for a fact he is still contracted to Roosters and will be until end of October. I could tell you the real reason, but I like to scoff at your presumptions. I hope if you have kids mate, no one speaks ill of them. And I really hope parents of some of these ids you guys talk about week in week out aren't on here.

So perhaps just stick to your in depth analysis of the games.

Also where is WLF gone. Seems to have disappeared after sending a private message to SonnyDill about the Waverley changes? Anything to add WLF?

Lathan dropped out of Waverley due to a contract he was offered from the Newcastle Knights. Yes these players, are all kids but this bullshit you talk about that is being talked about is from people that randomly make accounts (e.g your account made 2 days ago) who have a dig at a long time standing member - SonnyDill

Anyways, I was a the Knox game and jesus Trinity really didn't show up. Credit to the Knox players for putting on a electrifying show

Yeah, gossip is out of order and its not the first time SDW has gone down that road. Better off sticking to commenting on the games.

Apparently Rd4+5 For Cranbrook are tough, I think Rd5 is vs. Aloys at their annual "double header" which from what i've seen is tough, Tynside is their fortress, Will have to communicate to my Son(s).

Hi guys

Really interested to know how many opens teams each of the schools have these days.

I left a good while ago now, but from what I remember all the schools went to at least 3rd's/4ths and Barker, Knox and Waves had more teams.

Is this still the case or has the number of teams each school has shrunk?

HI Ozzie Bob,

Knox have 7 opens teams this year, and because the draw is out for the games v Aloy's this weekend, it says they have 4 opens teams.

I think Knox could have 8 teams if they could find games for them.
There are about 35 boys in the 7th's, in addition to the 20 or so from the opens teams who are off injured any given week.

I have actually heard on good authority that Knox have enough players to go to 11ths but can only field 7 teams.

Ahhhh Wednesday. My second favourite day of the week on the G&G forums, behind Saturday of course. Because I get to post my weekly predictions and spark conversations about the upcoming weekend.

So, with that being said. What's everyones tips / margins?

Knox vs Aloys
After seeing a big physical Knox outfit come out victorious against trinity last weekend, but failing to capitalise at moments restricting the score line to 42-19, I'm sure that in Warrawee this week, they're working on finishing and making the most of opportunities in front of them which will prove important if they want to keep the hopes of coming home with the premiership in 2 weeks time. From what I've seen of Aloys, they have potential but are lacking the size and work rate of the Knox side, which IMHO will be the difference this weekend. Hopefully Aloys give Weber (15) some ball this weekend, he is one of the only ones in the backline that I can see posing a threat with a good running and offloading game. Prediction, It will be close for the first 15, but the boys from Milsons Point will get tired and the flood gates will open with Knox playing physical footy early, and then I can see a similar result to Aloys last game (v Barker), with Knox's back 3 (Nicholl, Evans and Griffiths) putting on a show for all. Knox by 25

Barker vs Waverley
The game of the round. With Barker having a very successful season so far (3-0), they're sitting in top spot for the title and rightly so. Their forwards, led by pollard, have a real fire in their belly, turning up to every game with intent and wanting to put points on the board, and their outside backs have alot of experience crossing over the white line this season with Vass and Galloway being try scoring machines. This will be the difference between winning and losing this weekend. Waverley have really lost their spark, and thats the sole reason why they won't win this weekend. They have all the talent in the world, but the cohesion and brotherhood that every good footy team needs isn't there. Waves will put up a fight, I can see it being tight after they seem to have found a little bit of rhythm last weekend against Cranbrook, but Barkers never give up and keep fighting attitude will get them over the line. if Waverley turn up, there could be 5 points in it. If Waverley roll over and don't show that brotherhood and fire they need to win, it could be 15+. I hope for Knox's sake that Waverley win which will make for an awesome grand final like game next weekend @ Knox, But i have Barker to win by 7

Cranbrook vs Trinity
I haven't seen much of either of these teams, but going off previous scores and composure, I have my money Cranbrook to win. Trinity is having a rough season, and with them copping a decent belting by Knox last weekend and losing their key playmaker, Vuki, I can't see it going well for them. They have some quality players in Willoughby (9) and Hawkes (3), but Cranbrook has not only powerful and agile forwards, but they also have some backs with potential when put in space. If anyone else has some info on this game please post as I'm just going off what I've seen in 1 or 2 games. Prediction, Cranbrook by 10.

Hmmm ....J Dog Fenton ... I have to respectfully disagree .. Waverley have got their mojo back

Waverley supporters do not like to travel far north ... so sadly it will only be the die-hard supporters there

so that is definitely in Barker's favour

what will be interesting to see is who Waverley picks at 2 ... as Pollard is a monster ... and whether a year 10 kid ...who did a stellar job against Brook .... is the man, I am not sure .. plus the 16As will need him. time will tell ... but the return of Aisea Aholelei should mean whoever plays will have a Polynesian rock . A behemoth prop after all makes a hookers job a lot easier.

I think it will be close ... and I really think Waverley are a good chance ... with the backs now flowing. (the forwards never lost their mojo) So I have no doubt Waverley have a lot of points in them ... as they showed against Joeys. The key is Waverley need to not leak too many points ... and so my focus area for Waverley would be defence (particularly Galloway on the edge)... as if they bring their D, I think Waverley could razzle dazzle with the 9/10/12 combo hard to defend.

Waverley by 2 points

Brook v Trinity @ Club Hordern
Brook to bounce back at home.... and win comfortably ... and enjoying their last home game ... before Hordern gets "pimped"

Knox v Aloys @ Tyneside
Knox to continue on their collision course with Barker. Will Ollie Evans to bag at least 2 tries, and the Knox forwards to be too big and strong.

SDW I tend to agree with what you're saying. But ultimately I think it depends which Waverly team show up on the day. If it is the Waverly that played against Knox and Aloys, then I think Waverly will face a bitter defeat. But if Waverly show up like they did last week and like how they did earlier this season with close games against Kings, Riverview and Joeys, then I believe that Waverly will have the upper hand.

Waverley were NOT a bad side against Knox. I was there and they lost marginally to a very strong Knox side - it belongs in the same category as the Kings, Riverview and Joeys games.

In my opinion, I still believe Waverley have only had one bad game against Aloys, but it seems that has been the catalyst for a full crisis-mode evaluation of Waverley's coaching, players, positions, rugby program and the sacred S word...

On the other hand, I believe Barker are the real deal and may be just too good for the Waves, but not convincingly

To be perfectly honest I disagree. I was also there and Waverly were off the pace. Not to say Knox was perfect but Waverly were definitely struggling. If it wasn't for a last minute surge to save their blushes the scoreline would've been ugly. I think when at there best Waverly are a better team than Barker. But I suppose that is irrelevant and the best team on the day will win.

so barker beats aloys by 57 points (65-8) and aloys beat waverley by 17 points (22-5) ... so Barker by 74 points. You know it makes sense!!

I needed a laugh today, thanks bobs bunker! I think the cameraderie in the Barker team will show on Saturday, they play as a team and support each other every step of the way. It wont be a big win, but I think Barker by 10. Knox over Aloys by plenty and Cranbrook over Trinity by 15.

I have to say I was shocked looking through some of the school fixtures lists I could find online.

My glory days were in the 13F's at Barker back in the 90's. But i also refereed at the school in the 2000's

I know AFL is now available in CAS schools but where have all the teams gone? In some years Barker used to have 13g's. I amazed at how few rugby teams each school has now outside of Knox and Waves.

Barker has 6 opens teams.

If Waverley lose by 74 , I will do a nude run

See Gps thread for Joker footage ... him pretending to be me

How is 16As comp... almost certain Waverley haven’t been beaten

In terms of Waverley v Barker don’t think really either team beat a gps heavyweight in pre season

So pretty even

Barker have big guns in pollard and Galloway
Plus clinical in game style and have home ground

Waverley have in my view a more fearsome forward pack, more incisive backs and a bit more grit

If waves win it will be in the backs ... playing the way they did against cranners
