Only five tests this summer when we normally have six in non-Ashes years. Note they've also shortened the BBL this year given complaints that last year's was too long.

The D/N test in Perth should be good, everything else is a bit meh, especially if the MCG and SCG are the dusty flat tracks they have been the past few years.

Good to see Joe Burns get some runs. God knows we desperately need someone to stick their hand up to score runs at the top of the order. Now for Renshaw, Richardson and a few others to hit some form.

FWIW I would've had Burns in my Ashes squad from the start.

Uh huh

How about the clean sweep against Sri Lanka in the T20s?? There were some fantastic individual performances in there; standouts being Beth Mooney, Chamari Athapaththu and Alyssa Healy.

It's hard not to feel for the Sri Lankans though; as the game still seems very much amateur over there, and they come out to Australia to take on a polished professional outfit. Hopefully they're better prepared for the World Cup in Feb.

I saw a bit of the end of the one at NSO, looked very much like pros against amateurs.

Warner with a century against Queensland. There was never any doubt he was going to get selected for the first test of the Summer, but now there at least will be less cries that he shouldn't have been selected.

Marcus Harris with a century does his chances no harm.

Nic Maddinson with a double century could put him back in the frame as well. His form has been dominant since moving to Victoria.

Finsbury Girl

Trevor Allan (34)
First loss hurts bad esp vs the evil Blues  Davey Warner's ton the big difference.

Good to see Joe and Marnus in the runs in the second dig. We needed a few more.

Runs at the Gabba will count for a lot more than at that highway Victoria have at the MCG.

That was at the Junction Oval (although the MCG has also been a road in recent years).

It's an absolute indictment on the groundskeepers that their pitch produced almost 1300 runs in 4 days for the loss of only 12 wickets.

Haha, I realised it was at some local park after posting and knew you would be onto it.

James Pattinson was bowling offies and Victoria just kept the field up because they couldn't be bothered defending. Apparently, the Vics proposed to turn into a one day match via tactical declarations but Tom Cooper wasn't having a bar of it.
