Absolutely agree. The system feels locked from the moment some kids are selected at 14 — as if no one else can force their way in, no matter how well they develop. Once you’re in, you’re in; once you’re out, it’s almost impossible to break through, regardless of performance. It’s not a pathway, it’s a closed loop. The PONI list seems more about protecting early picks than rewarding current form.

Wow. CAS beat GPS. GPS get 8 in 16s schools and CAS 2? Waratah team not available so perhaps the CAS kids finished up there but I don’t believe it is selected yet? And I’m a GPS supporter.
love rugby rep selection…

PXV looked better leading 29-15 with 9mins to go, PXV Yellow Card plus Finn Hannon went off, gave CAS the opportunity to steal it.
CAS had size up front, PXV backs much better than their counterparts.

Not sure how the selection process works here however Hannon, Minto & Talakai (CAS No.3) are not in either Schools team , thus I assume there is an express path.

last year many kids didn’t have to participate in the schools comp as they were fast tracked to Waratahs, the included the likes of talen risati.

Absolute nonsense. There is no spite between scholars and fee paying players. Newington has strong team chemistry that fosters a culture of brotherhood. Nobody is alienated. As for the Riverview game, I was there and there were not 12 boys but closer to 50, and at Joeys New brought over 120 from Stanmore. Newingtons rugby culture is well and truly alive. Kings away crowd is regularly smaller then News.
Absolutely. Its bizarre how posters with no link to the school love to talk absolute nonsense isnt it.

I don’t think they look at those GPS games a whole lot in terms of selection. But I think there was definitely more than 2 worthy CAS players.

I think you'll find a number of those CAS boys are in the Sydney team.
3 of the Barker players got selected in Sydney (who had first pick over Schools this year).

Also, purely an educated guess (as no one else is ever told), but perhaps the following might have gone straight through to Waratah selection (and hence not in Schools 1, School 2 or Sydney)???

These players were all Waratah U15, but not in Schools 1, School 2 or Sydney.

GPS: Finn HANNON, Julian MINTO
CAS: Kaiasi Talakai (Wav), Jayden Richards (Barker), IJ Holmes (Barker)
Other: Will Gencur (CHS), Marlee Thomas (CCC), Cooper Williams (ISA), Isaac Street (CCC)
