Whilst TAS is an original GPS school I can't see their players getting selected in the GPS teams as I understand that their team will be playing either as the 2nd or 3rd XV behind Grammar firsts. Understandably GPS selections for the 1st, 2nds and thirds will come from the 7 GPS first XV sides.

I was told many years ago that joeys 2nds players used to get picked

If Whitley isn't in 1sts I will chop my balls off. He played Australia A

I can't see you having to do that. I reiterate that my suggestions were a list of three players per position not a 1st, 2nd and 3rds. The issue with Whitely is where do you play him - 4, 5 or 8? He as the skills and physique of a lock but dominates like a good 8 should.... I prefer him there. That said I think you may well find a number of surprises in this years GPS firsts given the talent that is coming through.

As a matter of interest, are there no wingers playing in the GPS competition? The wish lists that are being posted all seem to have centres amd fullbacks playing on the wings. Why can't people just accept that if Stewart and Barclay are the best combination then the others should be in the 2nd XV. It's exceptionally demeening to the young guys who put in for there school each week to realise others would prefer to see out of position players playing in their specialist positions. Remember these are trials to determine the best players in the state in these positions. It's very difficult to show the criteria for playing in the 12 & 13 jumper when playing on the wing as the roles are completely different. This can also create a mindset where players are happy to not be the best they can be and are happy to just settle for selection which in reality stunts their rugby development even allowing for the elite environment. Perhaps our obsession for picking players out of position and before their time is contributing to our slide down the international rankings.

Its a tradition: wingers never get picked for higher honours they almost always usurped by players from other positions.
Look where Mortlock, Burke, Little etc etc played

Well tepai has just recently been injured at a rugby league training, unfortunately the great, tall, powerful player has broken his ankle. This will be a shame for newington losing such a powerful centre.

Good start, mentioning scholarships in a schoolboy thread. That's why it was removed.
Read the rules.

Can expect big things from Tepais replacement, Martin Guilfoyle. Big tall ball runner, deadly in defense. Will be damaging in the centres

No Bowditch? Thought he'd be a candidate for playing in the Opens this year despite being U16s. He's certainly big enough.

Bowdwitch is a powerful player, not quite up to the standard of 1st XV football however
