I wouldn't read much into that Japan v USA result. The US were almost at full strength (admittedly minus their best player in Samu Manoa) while Japan were missing a number of their best players like Tanaka, Horie, Tui, Leitch and a couple of others. Eddie Jones also said before the game that he was treating the match like a training run and didn't want to give anything away tactically.
Not saying the US can't beat Japan at the world cup, they definitely could, but Japan would still have to be favourites, and I think they're the more likely team to give Samoa and Scotland a scare.

Yeah I lost connectivity a coupla times but fortunately caught the end of both Samoa v Japan & v Fiji.
Standard-wise I reckon this has been some of the best footy I've seen from USA & Fiji XV's in quite some time. Not sure what Eddie Jones is trying to do with Japan, Canada have been mostly disappointing & Tonga have been fairly up & down, as they tend to be.
Tonga to down Japan, USA too good for Canada & God knows what Fiji & Samoa will dish up, could easily outdo their round-robin match-up. If I have to pick a winner I'm going Samoa but only just & probably at the death.
