Have been thinking over the on and on again Bryce L debacle being allowed to continue, the inexcusable inconsistency of the SANZAR 'judiciary', the Paddy O'B "apologies" to certain teams only that were never rebuked, the way in which many rugby franchises seem accountable to no one for mediocre year-on-year performance, etc.

And the overarching and paradoxical thought passed my mind: rugby is a game always rich in laws, but often poor in standards.
And perhaps we we could say poor in sporting fans with the whinging and excuse making we see on threads like this

Are you hereby suggesting that there are no serious and legitimate criticisms to be made of Lawrence's refereeing competencies, and their impacts upon this game? That somehow his numerous highly debatable penalty calls in an otherwise tight game, should not be assessed, or, if found wanting, complained over? Especially if these calls may well have changed the course of the game? Do you have a compelling explanation of BL's performance that is contrary to the widely held view - well outside Reds' fans - that he made multiple serious errors of commission and omission that in aggregate markedly favored the Cru? Errors that even the Kiwi commentators highlighted whilst play was underway.

Balancing this (in my view) legitimate critiquing, many Reds posters here have posted comments regarding the team or individual Reds' failings in the match that contributed to the Reds loss. No one here has suggested the Reds played the perfect game, far from it.

Let's not throw the baby of the rational and reasonable competency assessment of controversial refs out with the gratuitous and irrational ref-bashing bathwater, or all we will underwrite is a perpetuation of potentially poor refereeing standards in a manner that will certainly not serve the game well.

Yes Bryce is shithouse, most kiwis agree. Hopefully now that he cant ref internatioals people will see that he is still shit at S15 level and will be dropped futher. Cheer up Reds fans, big game this weekend they still have a chance to pull this season out of the fire.

So my Australian friends, how does it feel to be taken roughly from behind by a little Kiwi man with a whistle?

Welcome to the very exclusive "Reamed by Bryce" club. The beer's warm, aircon doesn't work and the place smells bad.

For those wanting to double their excitementangst, the "Reamed by Kaplan" clubhouse is next door and has the added pleasure of being full of Tahs supporters.

I don't know how he kept a straight face, but the ref in the Blues Lions game just said "Can you keep an eye on that side (of the scrum) Bryce?"

Comedy Gold.

Lions then packed shoulders below hips and drove up - no penalty.

Props dropping the bind and turning in - no penalty.
