He also gives up an incredible amount of his own time to try and support rugby. I know part of it is with the Classic Wallabies and I assume there is some sort of remuneration there but I’ve found he is always very generous with his time and is good value across any age group - juniors to seniors. Very good guy from my experience.

Fair enough. I think the work done by the Classics has been outstanding and I’ve found none better to deal with than Morgan.

If he’s getting an earn out of it I have no issue with that at all.

He isn't Justin Marshall or Aaron Smith, so move on! To be chosen over Aussie local talent, an outsider had to have been an outstanding AB or NRL superstar. In this case I prefer to give game time to McDermott or whoever

I've been the same. In the past I would avidly watch all Super Rugby games every week. Then it was just the Australian games, no Kiwi derbies. Then it was All Reds games, and all Aussie derbies. Last year, mostly just the Reds.

I have been watching more club though.

I am hearing that this is the case with my old club getting better gates these days. My ex's 2 boys would go down and watch Manly play but ignore Super Rugby. I went with them about 6-7 years ago in a Manly v Uni and it was well worth a watch.

We moved recently. Fortunately I don't yet have a baked on club alignment so will let Easts go. I'll be joining Brothers this year. Not sure how often I'll get there but it's in my thinking.

I find the kiwi derbies faster paced and more skillful than the Australian ones, so would say I enjoy them more.

I'm emotionally invested in some Australian sides obviously so tend to gain more feeling from some Australian matches.

I view the competition as a collection of teams tho, not as an Australia versus new Zealand competition so just watch and go for teams I happen to like and enjoy. No different to the views expressed in *that* thread from 2011.

Seems like there can be plenty of sensitivity to "that" thread. My earlier post had exactly nil intent or consideration around that set of discussions. Tell you what seems odd to me - An Aussie based rugby fan backing off with rugby watching habits but focusing on Kiwi games. For teams that I simply like and enjoy I watch the occasional Japanese League and I still like to see how the Bulls and Lions are travelling. Doesn't impact watching the Reds.

I’m in that position. It’s more of in my opinion what Rugby is and how it’s meant to be played than what the professional game has become. Club Rugby and School Boy is an enjoyable day. A night at Super Rugby can feel like a chore unfortunately. You just see a bloke in orange do Rythmic Gymnastics with a whistle and about 30 mins of proper footy.

Pretty common in the other side of the puddle. Most of the Kiwis expats living in Australia who follow Rugby League support an Aussie side instead of Warriors lol

It's a shocking phenomenon, they hate everything about Rugby Australia but at the same time they support Aussie NRL teams and support an Origin side

Gel, I enjoy any Aus team playing a kiwi one but I could never become a supporter of a kiwi team.
I came here 45 years ago and dumped my pommie heritage (not too difficult) and supported Australian rugby. The big change came around 87 when we did a trip out into the country and there was nothing on the radio apart from cricket, forget the old guy's name but he was giving pointers to positions etc and I became hooked on the internationals.
The two foes I enjoy seeing beaten in rugby are AB and Poms, AB's only slightly more than the Poms. My old mates in the UK can't understand it.

Easts were always a good club to play at and against (apart from Finnane of course). The best in my day was Warringah, they had a great after-game singing, boat race etc. there was a guy called Harry ? who was great value.

I have supported the Tahs for a very long time and through a very tough few years, I've had nightmares watching sometimes but still did it. I am sure there are a core of supporters who support their team through highs and lows knowing things can turn quickly in sport, apart from the Wallabies of course.......

Tragically, this is true of myself and a number of the friends I made on here. I am looking forward to this year with some trepidation; too much seems to be going right and we might even get a 2014 repeat. But a couple of locks injured could destroy that in a heartbeat.
