I think Carter Gordon's goal kicking has improved a bit in the last couple of games. The couple he's missed were complete shanks but he made several hard kicks, and the Rebels also turn down a lot of easy chances at penalty goal that would help his %. He wasn't the primary goal kicker until this season so maybe it just takes time. The fact he's a scratch golfer makes me think he's definitely got the right sort of talent for it.

Maybe he needs to spend more time kicking goals and less time hitting golf balls..

I heard that John Eales was a good golfer, and that was why his coach at the time suggested he should try goal kicking. He was also a very good cricketer. Of course there was Nothing that Nobody could not do.

Too soon?

No...because he’s a 10 not a 15. It’s not like we have a shortage of fullbacks and it’s a specialist position. As someone mentioned earlier, Kellaway is a very smart rugby player and rarely makes a bad decision.

He's definitely the one out of Gordon, Lolesio and Donaldson with the most upside available in their general play.

The goal kicking is a major issue though. It's got to be both a project for him but also might cost him a place in the side. I don't think I'd be going down the route of having Donaldson as the fullback.

Gordon's out of hand kicking constantly puts the Rebels under pressure and his place kick percentage is sub 70%. Has no place playing test rugby.

I think the difference is that Kellaway errrors are normally to not pass the ball when he should, killing off attack and or giving up the ball. So they are note as noteable as more obvious errors like dropped ball and bad passes - but they are errors all the same.

I’d still have him as my fullback at present though.

Yep, I can agree that a lot of his errors are related to not using the ball and seeing promising movements dying. But he is also guilty of some absolutely atrocious passing episodes. In an earlier game this year (perhaps against the Tahs - I can't remember right now) he sent a no-look pass to his winger that missed the target and would have gone into touch except that the winger made a great effort to retrieve it beforehand and knock it back to AK (Andrew Kellaway) who then promptly passed the ball inside to an unmarked opposition player who ran about 25m to score untouched. Two absolutely horrendous touches by Kellaway that led directly to an opposition score.

I would pick and stick with Carter Gordon myself. Goal kicking would have to be a project for him AND someone else in the side.

Pedigree but very little form based on yesterday's efforts. Similar story with Carter Gordon, but I'd still have him before any of the others.

He did okay in last week's win. Basically he won the game at the death. That takes ability and guts.

I would go Gordon to start and then have Donaldson at 22 and Wright 23. That pretty much covers all positions, I actually like the idea of Carter spending some time at 12 later in the game.
Goal kicking remains the worry but would have Donaldson and maybe Lonergan on the bench as back up

Harrison needs time in the saddle - has been error prone in early weeks back. I rate him though - Aus A program would be perfect. Also want to see what Pasitoa could do for Aus A. Both have the talent.

Lolesio and Gordon for me atm. Donaldson third in line.

Not after last night’s performance. He’s a long way off and needs to first secure the starting 10 position at the Tahs. The way Edmed is going that shouldn’t be hard.
