You don't need tin foil, or need to know the opinion of any Bulldogs insider to know that either:
Her results were poo
The results were actually the doing of an overbearing Chairman, in which case she performed the role of his PA not a GM.

Neither of which would qualify her to be on the short list but a much tougher and complex role.i

We know that at least two members of the RA board wanted a woman in the CEO role. That would have made the short list quite short.

And least she's never worked for one of the big banks.;)

That's my take on the situation too. Had the ARU allowed the Rebels owners to go broke, and had they insisted then on taking the license back, both the Rebels and the Force would have been on equal standing so far as the decision to cut was concerned. Had the ARU done that, there would have been quite a lot less angst now over the whole process and decision.

How does that work in practice though with the ARU needing to agree to a reduction in teams, completing everything with the broadcaster as SANZAAR on the basis of a 15 team comp for 2018 and then needing a team to go bust to complete their obligations.

What happens if the Rebels don't go bust by the end of the 2017 season?

The ARU handled the whole thing incredibly badly but I can't see how making an agreement and then relying on something happening that was entirely out of their control to meet their obligations wouldn't be a far worse management of the whole process by the ARU.

assuming it's the same Nick Marvin we are talking about, he works for Twiggy so is unlikely to be available any time soon. In fact he is probably working to have his rugby competition be ultra competitive versus Super rugby.
Another part of clyne's legacy, a formidable competitor.

He ran Perth Wildcats.
Correct, most profitable club when the rest were struggling.

Marvin then got onto the NBL board - he was eventually NBL Chairman - and drove the privatisation which sold the league in 2015 to Kestelman who provided funding for the debts in the lower rungs and pumped in millions.

Smart operator is Larry Kestelman, who can now cash out some of those gains.

It was clear to the ARU at the midway point of the culling process that the Melb owners wanted out.
and it was publicly known before the formal decision that the owners were in no position to support the franchise.
There had to be performance benchmarks that the Rebels had failed to meet which would have given ARU scope to take control of the franchise.

Your arguments seem to be reverse engineered using only the bits that fit your narrative.

What was the choice? Blow the whole thing up, walk away, and let the devil take the hindmost??? See you all in court???

well there seems to be a chorus for blowing the whole thing up.
But the reason I ask is that this was a mid tv rights issue - was it not?
If so any issue with scheduling which impacted on the commercial attractiveness was at the risk of the broadcasters.
Predictably, thankfully, it finished up as c u n court anyway........so what was gained?

Those possible outcomes have NEVER been presented in any of the disclosure to date.
Do you have additional information or just your opinion presented as fact (as usual).

No Australian team could have been cut unless the ARU agreed.

The choice was there to make the 18 (or 16 or whatever) number of teams work until 2020.

Good to have some insights from David Redpath - ex Board member and CEO of RugbyWA:

"It has been a bad couple of weeks for Rugby Australia, its Chairman and new CEO as once more confidence in the Board and leadership have been critically undermined. Again Rugby Australia's inability to engage with proper Corporate Governance and instead turn to misleading and deceptive conduct has been exposed.

1. A $300,000 bonus to former disastrous CEO Bill Pulver is not disclosed in the ARU Annual Report and only comes out after the Rugby Australia AGM. I find it stunning that according to the newspapers that “The figures were not included in Rugby Australia's annual report released on Monday, but were listed in the reduced disclosure financial report RA lodged with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.”

2. Despite their denials of complicity there is now evidence in the press from Alan Jones and Nick Taylor of payments by the ARU of $500,000 to facilitate the transfer of the Melbourne Rebels to the VRU which effectively facilitated the destruction of the Western Force.
These payments have now been exposed but were not made explicit or clearly revealed in the Annual Report.
At the time we were told there was to be a "transparent" process... How transparent is that... well apparently secret payments to related parties don't need to be disclosed in a t"ransparent process.“…

3. The new COE brought in to guide the future of Rugby in Australia has apparently no vision for the future of the game as evidenced by hiring a Consultant to provide ideas.
It is breathtaking that a CEO without a vision for the future was employed at all...... “Castle has enlisted the services of Nielsen Sports consultant Michael Tange to map out what Australia's Super Rugby involvement should look like in the next broadcast cycle, 2021-2025.”

4. The so called “Listening Tour” by the CEO has resulted in what exactly??? What are the outcomes for WA. What did the CEO learn and how has it influenced strategy going forward.

5. The Israel Folau comments affair has been very poorly handled…. The CEO appears at a Press conference and says this is what happened at the meeting only to have the player state publicly a few days later that the CEO has misrepresented what happened at the meeting….

To be clear what we have here sounds very much like one of the top players has called out the CEO for lying….

That cannot be a good look for the CEO.

Mr Chairman.... Where does the buck stop??

Many. You could look at candidates who were, you know, successful in their last gig administering in sports. I like the look of this Nick Marvin fellow who got the ball rolling again in the NBL. Would the ARU's specialists, let alone posters on this two bobber of a forum, have heard of this dude last year? Perhaps not.

But I don't have to tell you that the Rugby Australia candidate has to tick quite a few boxes. Has to be the right sort of chap, or chapette, with experience at the levers of power without being, well, too interfering. Helpful if already domiciled in Sydney and knows a few people around town. Can't be one of the old boys - the opposite of that is what's needed to show there's been meaningful, genuine change.

Please welcome "Nobody's poppet, Nobody's girl", … Kristina Keneally!

(she's been looking for a new role of late and, frankly, would just look good in the job).
The woman who said in February 2017 that Turnbull had missed the real issues if he thought energy security would be a big issue in 2017.
That misapprehension qualifies her for RA CHair.
