Pretty sure the object on the right is an intensity tracker that measures bar speed etc. on different portions of the lift and would be connected to the fit bit style trackers they all have on their wrists. The idea of the resistance bands is to make it harder at the top of the movement, generally with a deadlift (or trap bar deadlift like Slips is doing here) the hardest portion of the movement is the initial movement from the floor which is where things can go to shit for your lower back. By using bands you can make it harder at the top of the movement without adding unnecessary pressure on your spine at the start of the movement. The boys jumping in the air is a bit of a pisstake because that's pretty light for a prop.

Not a fan myself. Form with deadlifts is incredibly important and you inevitably lose it the harder and faster you lift. Although, i guess Slipper has every expert in the universe watching him.

I would say that is why he's only doing it with a weight well below what he could actually deadlift.

Yeah sorry, my bad for the post hijack. It's been suitably explained to me now. Back to post captions.

A satisfied Shiggins stomps off, having just torn apart the entire Western Force clubhouse, by hand, and deposited the whole lot at the nearest Perth beach, to let nature wash his dreams out with the tide.

Raelene's dreams come crashing back to Australia after the Wallabies don't get a "pass mark" and crash out of the pool stages.

AD 2014, the eighth year of Richie's Reign: Not content with simply being able to enter from the side of the ruck, the Dark Lord McCaw has decided to follow up on this foundation and enter from above. Here we witness Richie preparing to enter the ruck while giving precise instructions to his vice captain, Keiran Read, on the finer points of game management:

"Alright Reado, go f*ck off and seagull on the wing while I sort these angry Saffer c*nts out."

When later challenged on his ambitious proposed breakdown entry tactics by a rugby union football international test match refereeing official, one Wayne Barnes QC (Quade Cooper), the Dark Lord McCaw did spake thus:

"I hear what you're saying Wayne about entering through the gate, but nowhere in the laws of the game does it stipulate that the gate has a limit on its z-axis. Thus, there's nothing to say I cannot enter the breakdown in a NASA interstellar re-entry aircraft, so long as I make my final approach from the right side of the coordinates. Also, we're in Christchurch."

....and we see here the mad rush from the Prime Minister of Japan to be first in line to the world famous "Dismal Pillock Grot Mag exhibition", now on display at the Gunston Museum.
