Wallabies 2020

Thorn realises it is a thankless task to be a back up 9, and you need to give players game time. Also Tate probably needed a freshen up.

For anyone to suggest he was dropped is uninformed at best, and disingenuous at worst.

Agree and how good has his form been since the freshen up.

Everything is managed individually via GPS workloads these days.

Samu isn't even locked into the wider squad IMO. Not sure how important being able to finish a try is for a 6 but that seems to be his best attribute at the moment.

His lineout work was great on the weekend, particularly the steal he took which gave the brumbies the possession that lead to Lonergan's try. Also seems to make less mistakes than the other 6/8 options, which may not be flashy but is always important at test level.

Do others think the Tahs players would be disadvantaged at the selection table if they lose this weekend? With a last round bye and no finals they will be 3 weeks without football compared to the two teams in the final.

I don't see Wright beating McReight to the open side.

I don't see Samu at 6, right now he'll be 8. So Wilson ends up 20, depending on what happens at 7.
Id take Wright over McReight everday of the week at the moment.

If Wright makes 7 then Naisarani and Valetini bring enough attacking and defensive starch to balance out the backrow.

I dont think you can fit Valetini in with Hooper unless Samu is 8, but he's surely third behind Wilson and Naisarani.

Its a fucken game of tetris.

Guess it depends whether it's considered a disadvantage to miss the finals, or just reward for those teams and players that do?

Absolutely the form and performance of players in the final series will carry extra weight then some of the regular seasons games, and rightfully so.

Stealing lineout wins against the vaunted Reds is hardly a negative. Not to mention his defense, his ability to make large metres in contact and his linking/passing attributes.

Yes. Id have both but have them reversed.

Hooper is basically built for coming off the bench. His speed against tired legs. I know I'm probably in the minority but I really don't rate Naisarani his body position is awful often leading to knock-ons form his or team mates, he has one or two 'Rob Simmons moments' every game, then he can't jump and is only really good for running the ball.
And Valetni has always been 'potentially good' but has yet to really step up.

You have, in my opinion, ruled out our best three backrowers.

First two Bledisloes both to be played at Suncorp on 10th and 17th October. Wallabies to base their bubble at Sanctuary Cove.
Well looks like the Wallabies’ manager is on top of it booking into Sanctuary Cove. Few cool down sessions in the lagoon and team bonding over golf.
