Super Rugby Rnd 6: Waratahs v Reds

His kick off last week was terrible. That might not be harsh enough, actually.

Yeah that was a shocker, its a shame as the kid is clearly talented and it just seems to be the top 2%. With the Wallabies 15 Jersey wide open now would be his time to shine but he has not taken this opportunity. Isn't he meant to be going to 7s at some point?

I think "terrible" may be a bit harsh, Maddocks general play has been fine, he just dropped too many high balls, hopefully he has been doing extras getting it right.

Terrible is actually a fair assessment of his 2021 performances; he has realistically been outperformed by every outside back in Super Rugby AU. If he wasn't considered to have such a 'high ceiling' - I think a lot more people would seriously question his place in the team.

Well he is not going to learn anything warming the pine like he is this weekend, he has had a season and a half to fix those works ons.

OK. Let's reward him for dumb things by continuing to start him. Sure.

Shute Shield doesn't even start until after Easter, so how does his Big Kid Routine get reined in smashing amateurs in park footy trials? Might as well come play against our Womens 7s on the charity day this weekend...

This should be an easy outing for the Reds, but I'm hoping the Tahs can surprise them and everyone else and put up the good fight.

A couple of areas the Tahs will have to watch closely. The Reds scrum is operating very close to the wind, imo illegally, and this will need to be kept front of mind with the referee. Uru is dynamite with his pick and goes. Keep that defence alert and ready at all defensive rucks. Tate is always likely to take quick taps on penalties and free kicks close to the tryline. Don't turn your backs on him.

Reds by 12 or 45.

Let's not even talk about illegally setting up lifters in front of the jumper when the maul is set up. ;)

Brumbies used to be pinged regularly for this Sully, but hardly at all in the past 2 or 3 seasons. I think they've taken the lesson on board and are operating legally mostly now.

But in any case, that has no bearing at all on the illegal Reds scrum.

Brumbies scrum legally.... ok mate lol

Your anti-reds comments are polluting too many threads now, I get they beat the brumbies, but that was 2 weeks ago.

Thing that has pleased me is that Reds have got a plane load of supporters flying down for game. Got a couple of mates going down and another one was on waiting list. I really pleased to hear Reds supporters club or board (I assume) have got this going. There a lot of people who can't go anywhere at moment and supporters trips like this I think are great. Not sure if it got something to with new sponsorship where I read they get charter flights everywhere, and they could be filling up team plane?
Whatever the reason a big thumbs up to everyone connected!

What is interesting for me in a season where no hooper and tahs getting hammered week in week out that gamble can’t even get a bench spot which reflects tizzano being such a workhorse that gets full 80 minutes each week. With hooper coming back hard to see much of a future for gamble which is a pity as looked a player with potential but not seen much of him.

If he wants to come back to Subbies, I've got a spot for him :)

BTW if you want to watch some rugby on Saturday in the lead up, head over to CluchTV to check out our charity day. Got Mosman, Lane Cove, Briars Women, Hornsby Women, and Hunters Hill Women along in addition to the main event against Alexandria Dukes for the Indianna Challenge Trophy.

You might even get to see me play 20 minutes for Third Grade then trip over my own feet as a ref :)
