League Targets

He seemed decent in NSW cup. Did he have a stint with the 7s?
Seems to ring a bell. Might get a train & trial with another NRL side but if you can’t crack the back to back wooden spooners you aren’t the most attractive option.

Doubt Super League is an option with their limits on Foreign players. Whilst cheap they at least want proven players.

Looked it up, he did play a few 7s tournaments before getting hurt. Agreed on comment about the Tigers. He is only 24 though.

Josh Addo-Carr saying on his podcast he would be open to a rugby switch. Even talks about admiring the Wallabies growing up. It wasn’t anything seriously but still got me thinking… he seems to be on the outer at the dogs.

Interestingly from a marketing perspective I think The Fox draws a lot more attention and eyes on the game than JS will in terms of bringing the game back into mainstream market. He’s obviously a great offensive weapon, has a good media presence, strong ties to the indigenous community and is a nsw SOO rep. He would also be a fuck tonne cheaper.

No Super Rugby club is touching a high profile NRL player after recent events and comments made by the Reds and Brumbies in their statement to overthrow HM, especially not Addo—Carr, he is too controversial for rugby executives.

Get the feeling he has time limit wherever he is and he’d be on the outer because they paid him borderline Fullback money to be on the Wing.

The pod with Josh Mansour was pretty casual but he’d be a hell of a 7s player….

He’d still be 400-500k for a Winger. Does have that genuine freak ability.

I’ve watched a lot of JAC & is an unbelievable talent but doesn’t do well in bad systems. He needs ever to go right for him to flourish. Is a pure finisher with elite speed. Don’t think his skills nor our system would suit the fox. However if he wanted to go to the Olympics tomorrow he would be the best 7’s player in the world

Whilst I don’t disagree, I’m also curious as to how rugby Australia is going to turn the Wallabies into a winning team again before the Aussie public lose all hope.

Tightening the belt, hiring a DoR, new coach, super rugby alignment etc is all well and good but it also doesn’t turn our best 23 currently into a much better team in the short term.

Rugby doesn’t really have time on its side to become relevant again professionally.

JS may end up being a master stroke signing and be the key, but I have a feeling RA will need to find a couple more quick fixes between now and the RWC and the reality is a huge number of the best footballers in Australia are playing in the NRL and would likely jump at a chance to play in a home RWC.

I don’t think he’s suited to union at all. He’s got elite top speed but that’s about it. His skills are average, he can’t kick and defensively he’d be a huge liability.
He’d be a significantly inferior Bryan Hanana. He’s got speed and would be useful for his kick chase but he’s not particularly evasive or skillful at all.

There’s 30 backs you’d rather poach from league before considering JAC.

Yep there are way better options - but I'm not sure the list is very deep.

The best league converts are a mixture of skill and media presence.

One of the reasons I've been disappointed with Vunivalu is not just him struggling to grasp the game, but also there hasn't been any ability to lean into his personality for promo of rugby. He doesn't have the same popularity with leaguies as Wendell or Lote had and he isn't anywhere near as good a player as Izzy was which helped offset the fact he wasn't great in front of a camera.

You'd want someone like Ponga, genuine freak ability and is loved by almost everyone in the game. Our own Aussie Cheslin Kolbe

Just sucks he’s said he would want to be an All Black.

Reece Walsh is the new one. He’s unbelievable. Not saying he’s a target but marketing wise the kid would be a money spinner and win you games.
I don't know. He's incredibly talented but he seems like the kind of player that would lose you as many games as he'd win you.

Probably at this stage. At 21 it’s pretty incredible how much he can dominate a game and turn a minor chance into points.

His biggest issue is between the ears on/off field but again he’s 21.

League players are generally playing league because they love it. Same with rugby players. If you throw big cash at a league player to come over for the hype personally I think it is a waste. Unless we get them from schoolboys before they head to league their heart is not really in it. Far better that we encourage our younger rugby players to head overseas to get valuable rugby experience and more game time. Super rugby just isn’t long enough imho. Even if it’s just for a year to help in their development.
