"It's only Quade."

"I think he was apologising as he was hopping off him wasn't he?"

"It was definitely high. Berrick ducked into it."

The best part though:

Greg Martin: "No injuries....... someone's still down........"

Greg Clarke: "Ah, it's Barnes still down."

"He must've got him right on the chin."

"Yeah, they'll bring in a lawyer or whatever they do because he was dropping in the tackle. But it was never gonna get him in the midriff was it?"

Watching the rugby club and the interview with Quade - the hit and others like it. My question is - Has BB come out and said anything? Anyone know. Sometimes players who were the receivee's(!?)
have stepped forward and said it was 'just rugby' or 'hang the bastard'.

To his credit Lyndon Bray himself ( a Kiwi ) emailed back APOLOGISING and stating that more Aussie refs were due for this year. Excluding Walsh ( & I always do ) we have 2 OZ refs that officiated in a handful of games.

I haven't heard Barnes say anything about the incident.

I'm sure he would have happily got up and kept playing if he was able to. They're Wallabies teammates and I can't imagine for a second that Barnes would have wanted Cooper to be suspended. I'm sure he also wished he hadn't been smashed in the head but I can't imagine he harbours any ill will towards Cooper.

Why should Archie's Dad have to say anything in public?

He has been very dignified throughout this whole sorry mess.

I can't recall seeing "Victims opinion" as part of the judicial mitigating criteria that Inside Shoulder posted a few pages back.

QC (Quade Cooper) was called to account for his actions. Justice has been done and consequences applied. Time to move on.

Not sure 'justice' is the correct description. Watching it again on TRC last night i just don't see a red card offence. Doesn't matter who made the tackle, i wouldn't be calling for them to get suspended for it.

Do you mean Barnes has been dignified throughout this whole mess? How so? He has done exactly what he has needed to, and that is nothing. Not sure he needs to be lauded for it.

Barnes has resisted temptation to make public statements on the issue. He has let the Judicial processes run their course. Call me old fashioned but to me that is being dignified.

Whether you agree with the outcome of the Judiciary, and clearly you do not, Mr Cooper appeared before a duly appointed Judiciary to answer charges. Correct procedures appear to have been followed by the Judiciary, and a finding was made based on the evidence presented to it. IMHO that is Justice in a nutshell.

In due course these findings will be publicly released. There are plenty of examples of various rugby judicial findings available on the internet. These can be unearthed with a targeted google search.

In his finding, Mr Tully ruled the following:
Whilst in the process of a tackle on Berrick Barnes,there was principle contact with the chest but also with the neck such as to make the tackle dangerous in contravention of Law 10.4 (e). Mr Cooper’s record is unblemished save for a two-week suspension in 2010. He has played Super Rugby for the past six years as well as a significant number of Test Matches for Australia during this time. It is also a matter of significance that the SANZAR Rules allow consideration be given to the importance of games to be played during the Super Rugby Finals Series and as such, this has been taken into account as a mitigating circumstance.

I guess this is as close to an official judgment as we are likely to get.

Actually there is plenty to discuss in that Judgment, not least of which is the final sentence "SANZAR Rules allow consideration be given to the importance of games to be played during the Super Rugby Finals Series and as such, this has been taken into account as a mitigating circumstance."

League has been unofficially doing this for years (unless its a Kiwi before an ANZAC test where the opposite applies) but it is interesting to see that it is an official policy of the SANZAR judiciary. I don't know if I approve or not.

I'm pleased that BB has maintained silence in all this. I dare imagine he would have been in touch with Quade, as you say they are Wallaby team mates. BB would no more want Quade suspended then Quade wanted to hurt BB.
