My apologies for thinking instead of writing - The National Academy - much like the NTS - does not pay enough....blah blah.

I thought most would get a break from it, or is it just general fitness work?

i guess considering that premier rugby is still going and the wallabies season hasn't kicked off, it makes sense to keep training going until later in the year

Reds start training today for 2013

The lack of a development pathway like a Currie Cup or ITM cup means that there is no one else to train with, this is why you see the Reds players back at Ballymore now.

In reality if you saw their sessions you would be hard pressed to identify what they are getting out of the training session other than being seen at Ballymore.

Great news. Little suprised Rocket re-signed, he would know he is on the outer when it comes to wing spots (Shipperely, Ioane, Sautia, Morahan). He could of easily gone elsewhere and started (in Melbourne or Perth he'd be a certain starter). But good on him for staying, unfinished business I'd say.

Great news.

Will be interesting to see if tapuai is groomed as a 12 or a 13. Personally I think he is a better 12, but with harris in the squad at 12, and Fainga'a only signed until the end of next season, link might persist with him as a 13.

Wouldn't mind seeing: 12. Tapuai
13. F'Sautia

But both are too green at this point.

Surprised they re-signed Davies. It was a shame they could not sign gagai as he has been on fire for the knights lately, but it is understandable as they had enough trouble retaining current players at that point in the season. I think davies has a lot of work to do to become a more complete player.

Great news on the signings.

I know 2012 just ended but any idea when the 2013 draw and the 2013 memberships will be released?

Wonder if they will go close to 30K again in memberships?

It's a different ball game trying to retain members once you have them, QRU would be aiming for a 75-80% retention rate of existing members and the difference to be made up new members.. That seems like the industry standard and should be achievable since the marketability of the reds hasn't changed drastically since 12 months ago(ie, stil have Quade and Genia)

I was a member in 2011 but couldn't back up for this year (it's close to 2hrs each way from my place to the game) but will be getting a membership for 2013. Can't wait!

Given the Lions tests and the rugby community presale of Lions test match tickets plus the Reds v Lions game at Suncorp I would be surprised if the numbers dont go up.
