You say serial offender but what did they do wrong this time?

Scoey, you're lucky I have a 4 year old grandson, so I'm use to having to explain simple things to him also!
Elite athletes "out at 2 am" in Brisbane, when two of them have to fly out of Sydney (for commitments in South Africa), at 10 am?!
Even with your limited comprehension, you must realise that the "window of sleep" (or rest) prior to both fights on that morning was at best "minimal".
So you are saying that this is "OK behaviour"?
As I've said, I'm over QC (Quade Cooper), I'm over KB (Kurtley Beale), and to be honest I'm over you, and your acceptance of unsociable and counter-productive behaviour amongst our national team members! I prefer to support the "fair dinkum" Wallabies in our squad.

An open letter to Reds Members -
from Queensland Rugby CEO Jim Carmichael

I am certain many of you have been concerned with what has been reported in the media over the past week regarding Reds playmaker Quade Cooper.

You may have already seen my comments in the media however let me reassure you that Quade has no interest in leaving the Reds. He loves playing for Queensland and representing his country and has reaffirmed his commitment to our organisation on several occasions, and again as late as yesterday afternoon.

Also there have been suggestions in the media that Quade’s actions are part of a Queensland Rugby campaign to bring about a coaching change at a national level, however I can assure you that this is not correct.

As you are aware, it has been our intent for some time to have Ewen McKenzie as the Reds Director of Coaching in 2013, to ensure that the St.George Queensland Reds continue to be successful.

In 2014, our plan is for Ewen to assume the role of Director of Rugby as part of our wider strategies around participation growth and elite talent identification, development and retention in Queensland.

However we are also confident that we have built an organisation that is well positioned in the future to respond to the many and varied circumstances that inevitably arise in a dynamic business such as sport.

Thank you for your ongoing support of the St.George Queensland Reds and Rugby in Queensland.

Kind regards,

Jim Carmichael
Chief Executive
Queensland Rugby

Dunno if that is anything more than simple coach-speak. I can't imagine any coach saying anything different. He is hardly going to say that the tweets affected the squad, or that Quade is finished in the Wallabies. Deans isn't silly, he knows there is a politic way of dealing with things.

It may be that everything Deans said is a bald-faced lie, other than the text message as it would be embarrassing if Quade denied ever receiving one.

A pretty classy effort I reckon - he could have said "no comment" and made it clear that QC (Quade Cooper) was gonskis.

Might be a good political response saying that of course the door is open. I really wonder if QC (Quade Cooper) gets another shot ???? Bit like when a pollie says that his/her leader has their total and full support. The halls of parliament are scattered with the bones of former leaders.

Reckon a lot depends on KB (Kurtley Beale)'s performance this weekend and the weekends following. Wish him luck

Probably advised not to by the ARU & QRU, to minimize further damage such as all the posts here. I love my rugby, but seeing all the vilification in these posts is starting to turn me off forums - some of you on each side of the fence, get a life & move on. If I was a wallaby about to play a test against the Springboks and read this thread, I'd be wondering where my motivation is. I bet other nations followers of the Rugby Championship would be curious about our rantings - the way we are putting everything down.

Damn right. Something strange has happened to the Aussie rugby fan over the past decade. We've started behaving like the generation Y entitlement junkies that we profess to disdain, angry when we lose, always looking for someone to blame, because we haven't been given what we deserve.

It's pretty obvious I would have thought. A rugby team is not a corporation for starters.

Comparing Quade to a 'whistleblower' is highly insulting to the courage shown by whistleblowers who expose corporate fraud and other offences.
.

While I agree there are fundamental differences between a corporate/government whistleblower and Quade, there are some pretty daming correlations between the methods used to attack both on a personal level to try and diminish the veracity of their statements.

Hi guys. This is an emotive topic and we all have strong views on it. I decided a couple of days ago to stop posting in it because of the strong views expressed and my belief that no one would change their minds on the subject.
But now I feel I need to put my moderator cap on and remind everyone of rule 6: 'play the ball, not the man.' I know I'm just as guilty of this as the next man and it's hard when we're discussing a players conduct but, statements like 'Quade is a fuckwit' are not acceptable. There have also been insults directed at other members, the same rule applies.
I think it would be totally hypocritical of me, after participating and as a Reds fan, to start handing out points. But I am going to start delete posts the include personal insults to public figures and forum members.

Personally I try to get my body clock onto the time I'm going to land before I take off. That's a sensible thing to do before travelling. It's also a good idea to sleep as much as possible on the plane.

I'd move that behaviour from being "OK" to "Professionally managing changing timezones".

Trying to tarnish it as otherwise just seems "petty".

If you are going adjust your body clock to your destination, then sleeping on the plane would be contrary to that aim. They arrive in Joburg mid/late afternoon.

Are you just disagreeing with people for the sake of it now? Plane leaves Sydney at 10am for around 13 hour trip to JoBurg.

Do you really want to force yourself to stay awake, get there at what would be about 11pm Australian time but 3pm local and then have another 7-8 hours before bed? And that would probably be after waking up around 5am Bris time to get to the Airport and down Sydney?

Rather than going for a stint of 26 hours awake, I'd be shooting for 8 hours sleep on the long haul plane myself.

I was just responding to the ridiculous statement that being out and about the night before @ 2am was "professionally managing timezones"
But you are right it is a stupid argument to be having, the trolls got me.

This is what is starting to turn me off of the game. Not perceived poor performances or perceived bad behaviour. But big mouthed fans & the vilification of the players/coaches they don't like. It's farking hilarious the amount of armchair experts that could do things better.

But attacking people for "being up late" when you have no idea of the context is fine? The argument is "petty".
Now you are just making things up.It was your ridiculous point I responded to, and I made no comment at all as to the appropriateness of the boys being out and about at 2am.There was no criticism of anything but your stupid premise about "professionally managing timezones"

During the season when the Reds went to SA they played on the Saturday night in Brisbane then flew out on the Sunday, they stayed up all night - I believe they got together at a couple of spots and watched the SA games. They did this to start changing body clocks because they had a big game in 7 days.

There were tonnes of tweets willing each other to stay awake.

That doesn't sound stupid, petty or unprofessional to me.

Not turning me off the game, but turning me off forums. I came here because it was not like that. It seems on G&GR the harsher your criticism and the more times you say fuck in a sentence the tougher you are, or more precisely the tougher you would like others to think you are.

G&GR is a great forum, but this thread has been disappointing and gone
feral. The mods can only do so much without making this place feel like a police state. I'm as guilty as others at times at being overly critical of players, but as a whole we need to be more balanced. We're the ones that make this forum good and we need to ensure we continue to do that.
