Well Done to your boys JB! Enjoy! The celebration at Stanmore on hearing the result from View vs. Joeys was fantastic! Cheers, Wreckless :)

They are not my boys, of course, wreckless. I think that they would find that concept very strange! However, all the teams this year have given me a great deal of enjoyment win or lose. I have also enjoyed discussions on this thread.

I saw the conclave from a distance Quick Hands, and tried to get a photo, but didn't realise the significance until I got home. As I understand it, the boys come down by bus Friday, return Saturday straight after the game. TAS in the seconds? They would cope, I think, and it might help imbalance in other grades. While I don't have game results, I think that TAS won the majority of their games Saturday. Still, comments here have educated me on the difficulties involved.

In another post, someone said that they would like to know the results of all games by all ages. TAS wasn't mentioned, the focus was on the higher level comp, but I agree. The earlier teams from the 13s feed into the later year results. From my perspective in judging the depth of Rugby at TAS compared to the Sydney schools, I need to know exact grades and results.

I thought this year that I could spreadsheet the TAS results including pivot tables allowing me to sort results by various categories, but the info wasn't there. Still, I am slowly getting a better understanding.

Well done to the TAS boys, they had an exceptional season considering they would have travelled a few thousand kilometres. Their passion and motivation to play rugby against the best schools in the GPS turned out to be a huge success for them.
Was very surprised with the result from Lane Cove but i guess TAS deserved abit of luck

Do you know, I still don't know the result from Lane Cove? Can anybody tell me?

One of the better games i have seen all season no matter what the comp. Finished in very dramatic scenes.

With view being down 16-14 with 2 mins to go and on joeys line throwing everything at them. However, one of the big forwards ran isolated and was stopped 1 metre from the line and joeys were given a penalty for holding the ball. However, for an unknown reason the joeys boys found a reason to complain and yell at the ref. I didn't hear what was said however it must of been quite severe as it resulted in a complete reversal and view for awarded a penalty in front of the posts. View number 10 took the penalty and calmly slotted it.

2 mins of high tense rugby resulted in joeys pushing passes ending with a forward pass on half way. The final whistle sounded and riverview celebrated as if they had won the comp because i think deep down they really loved that they allowed TAS to win the comp and prevent joeys to take the comp.

can confirm that the referee did not reverse his decision, he had awarded the penalty to view, for joeys not rolling away, and simply got his hand around the wrong way

I have to say, as a New Parent, that I actually felt something for the Shore boys yesterday. Even though they got smashed on the score board they showed a huge amount of ticker for a much smaller side.

Maybe its because I don't notice people hyping them up us much as the some of the other schools.

I hope they feel they can hold their heads up high, because if they were my kids I would be very proud of them

And let me add that their Rugby Captains' after match speech was one of the best I have heard all year! Congrats to him and his school and teammates!

Congrats to Scots and New on their joint premiership in the 1sts. They were the best 2 teams all season and it seems a fair result.

Observations from the Scots v Joeys match yesterday:
Joeys dominated territory and possession for large parts of the game. Deegan played with skill, creativity and a huge heart and guided his team around well but the boys from Hunters Hill lacked the firepower out wide to convert their dominance (unusual for Joeys historically). Scots on the other hand were strong where Joeys were not. Kellaway was simply outstanding in his last game for Scots (having played about 24 GPS games for the blue and golds. what a rugby player). Some of his tries over the last 3 years will live long in the memory. I hope we see him in future rep teams (on the wing is my prediction). The final score of 43-18 was flattering to Scots but the win was nevertheless well deserved. It was refreshing to see players from both teams chance their arm from anywhere on the field. Schoolboy rugby is still the best form of rugby without a shadow of a doubt. The passion and atmosphere at Bellevue Hill matched the sparkling weather.

Here's my 3,2,1 for the day.
3: Kellaway (a fitting finish), 2: Deegan (tough kid), 1: Dunbar (captain's knock)
Totally agree very fair summary of the game, I thought that the Scots second 15 were a tad unlucky with some calls from the ref and would have been right in the game, the Scots first 15 forwards were outplayed hands down by the Joeys forwards but they just could not break the Scots backline defence, on the rare occasion the Scots backs got the ball (due to Joeys weight of possession) they broke the Joeys back line......... Joeys are 3/10 at the end of the season but the side I saw play yesterday could easily have on a good day been a real contender.......... congratulations to all the boys ..... how good is GPS rubgy! 2014 will no doubt be a real blockbuster and i think a very even comp with Kings, Joeys and Scots being so close in the 16's and View having so many players back..... lets hope the third 15 comp will be as good as it was this year for the good of all GPS schools and spectators.........

I was at the TAS V Scots game a few weeks ago and saw a spirited fight back by TSC to come close to a very good TAS side who deserved the win...... I really felt that TAS could play the in the 2nd 15 comp they showed great skill right across the ''paddock'' as those from Armidale would call a large piece of grass in Bellevue Hill ........ congratulations to TAS great to see them part of the mix........

Alright, it's time to talk one-on-one with everyone here. Listen carefuly fellow forumers, this is the truth.

*Everybody asks me, "what the @&&$ is this is forum about, what is up with those posts? It's an act, there is no GPSrow. You postin', brah? Well I'll give you more reason to reply to this post gents. Everyone has a little bit of GPSrow in them. Every bloody former out there, you're a forumer if you wanna be, brah. Stop being a troller, alright? Go out and get numerous amounts of likes.

*Taken from an excerpt of The Zyzz Revolution Speech for any do not understand his legacy.

Yesterday I, as a Newington College Year 12 Student took to the field in what was to be the last ever match I will play for my college.

As my alias stood, I was presumed to be an old-boy, finished in 07 that wanted to keep updated week-by-week and give the latest schoolboy trash talk, gossip and score/match reports etc. It was an act.

Now heading into my HSC Exams I ponder my pure procrastination on the G&G forums and ponder the pure achievements on this mystical utopia of Schoolboy rugby that consisted in my life outside of academia which I have become less 'fond' of.

From doing the GPS Preview, 2 match reports and sharing come classic banter with Wreckless, Lee Grant and Inside Shoulder, it has made me humbled to know that I have pleased, humoured and questioned hundreds of other forumers predictions and opinions.

From a Newington Student's Point of View, I do see the Newington Rugby Program making some serious progress in its successes but this is only noted in the A teams and the 1st XV. Next year, will be the true test for Newington's rugby has both depth and quality in numbers will need to shown espically in the Senior years. Luckily, there are always those few that will choose to rise and conquer that White jersey for the next 10 rounds to come.

Bye bye gents. I bid you well.

Thanks for reminding us of what School sport should be about.

We tend to focus a little too much on the winners, men of the match, future wallabies, Aust schoolboys, competition tables, promoting the virtues schools that we are associated with etc, and forget that the majority of these are just kids playing a game that they love with their mates.

With the season done and dusted, it is time to look for nominations for the more prestigious awards of the season:

a. Best 1st XV Afternoon Tea
(Quality 25%, Quantity 45%, Range 15%, Captain's speech, 10%, Location 5%)

b. Best Canteen/BBQ
(Quality of product 50%, speed of service 30%, Value for money 20%)

c. Best Match Day experience
(parking 10%, Crowd behaviour 25%, sportsmanship 25%, Canteen 10%, Afternoon tea 5%, exciting footy 15%, presentation of ovals 10%)

Another great season for GPS rugby. Congratulations to both Scots and New on their achievements.

Great to see TKS come home with a wet sail after a tough start to the season and good to see the 16A's competition closely contested which augers well for competitive rugby in years ahead.

For 2014 I hope for a closely contested competition and will be cheering for Shore to get more reward for their efforts and commendable ethical stance on "matters rugby."

All the best in the HSC GPS Row, and congratulations on your award on Saturday at the presentations! I for one have enjoyed your contribution immensely - even your "fall from grace" was handled humbly and with contrition! Well Done! I'll see you on Friday at the Valedictory Day celebrations Mate! Cheers, Wreckless :D;)

Best Canteen/BBQ: Kings, followed by Scots and then New, best value for money and service.

Best Match Day experience: New vs. Scots at Bellvue Hill

The inclusion of TAS this year has been fantastic IMO. They seemed to receive the scores from other grounds just after full-time and with the news they had won prompted a nice little celebration. You could tell it meant a lot to them and they had achieved something.

Judging by the number of TAS boys who walked past me with roll up mattresses and sleeping bags, they either came down Friday night or were going back this morning.

I think in a previous post, you also thought that TAS would be able to compete in 2nds rather than 3rds. From what I saw yesterday, TAS were certainly of the same standard as Newington and Shore 2nds. Look forward to seeing TAS back again next year:)
I'm not sure TAS are up to 2nds standard. Certainly not SJC & SIC. Anyway theres no putting them in the 2's it will stuff up an already stupid 3's comp
