Oh well, whatever. Moving on - still loving that the Tahs broke the drought finally. Just the most unbelievable and heart-stopping match.

If the 'Tahs can do this again next year I reckon we'll get 80k in that stadium. Even my League mates were kicking themselves for not coming after the game and said they won't make that mistake again.

Unless you're a league follower.

I don't mind league followers - shit, one of them even complimented the game on the weekend!

But the ones who make facile arguments about union without even trying to understand the game, who listen to their commentators blare and drone and wank on about Loig as the greatest game ever, who don't even see their own shortcomings, can line up and take it in turns to fuck off.

Not Kieran's best post GF interview, his best of course being the ITM Final win in maybe 2010 where he opened with someone to the effect of "That was a fucking great win".

Yeah, I was at a thing on Friday with Laurie Daley, Rod Kafer and George Gregan, and Daley was really positive in his talk about Union. None of the small minded crap you often hear from both sides (Kafer usually can't help himself either - always taking pot shots at League).

League fans who aren't total code warriors are fine - it's just when you get these guys that (as you say) come out with stupid comments on penalties etc you just want to roll your eyes.

Apart from spiro I have hardly ever heard a union commentator bag league in any way. I must have missed Kafer doing so.

Kafer is more just a pot shot merchant. At the function I was at on Friday he kept on with comments like "I hear you need to be simple when talking to League players" in response to Daley saying the key to the Blues success this year was due to giving the players more responsibility and keeping things simple.

Just cheap shot stuff like that. You see him do it on Rugby HQ too if the NRL ever comes up.

The league code warriors line goes something like this:

Low scoring league game = great defence
Low scoring union game = boring sport

High scoring league game = great attacking skills
High scoring rugby game = they can't tackle

One of the good things about living in this area is that league and union are about equal in terms of junior numbers and most of the good players have played both and thus have some understanding of the other game.

Happy to admit I was wrong about Palu, I thought he was in decline.
His tough ball running in tight and amongst heavy traffic made a huge difference to the Tahs go forward all year, but Saturday's effort was insane.
His vastly improved fitness has also kicked up his physicality in defence to the level of a world class No 8.
He is also clearly enjoying his footy.

Not one of my prouder moments, but I had a flick over to the silver fern to read all their hurt comments on their match thread about the ref being unfair etc. Provided a lot of amusement

Congrats Tahs, best team during the year, deserved win. Was a fitting game to boot, exciting and good advert for the game.

Shame I missed out on making it to the game, came down with the flu during the week and am still out from work. Second grand final with an Australian team winning that I had plans to attend and then health issues got in the way.

Hopefully this is a huge boost for NSW rugby.

Back when the last Australian team won the Super Rugby we won the Tri Nations and beat the All Blacks in Australia. Hoping for a repeat!

Thought Izzy was very well contained by the Saders. They seemed to be "aware" of his presence and limited his opportunities. Maybe opened some chances for others. Am sure other countries will use the same model heading towards RWC
Hopefully opening some room for the bro with the fro.. He only needs an inch.

By and large they took it pretty well I thought, although the attitude of the winning fans (i.e. me, cyclo, barb, Lindommer) is of great assistance in that regard.

During the game is a different matter, but then it always is in the heat of the moment

Well done Waratahs the better team on the day and throughout the competition won. Still think that the comp would be better served with an EPL style ladder with the log leader at the end declared the winner. No playoffs.

Probably difficult to win that argument when we have just had the best final I can remember.

There's quite literally not a single thing I like about the EPL, from it's structure, predictability, prima donnas, Oligarch cash right down to the sport it represents.

Having a finals series adds an element of pressure that makes the Champions more worthy than a ladder system and gives the end of the season a much more momentus event, rather than just petering out. So lets not go down that path.

I think the ability to lose your last game but still get a big shiny trophy is a little weird :)

Still, more should be made out of the minor premiership over the "conference winner" stuff, for sure.
