the first 40 minutes of his debut were just terrific. he took on Horwill and Simmons and kept them very busy indeed.

I hope you're right both for his sake and the Brumbies. But atm he hasn't played a Super game. Needs to show he can handle that level before being spoken of as a prospective Wallaby. Saying that though, he did play better in the NRC than Staniforth.

1. i haven't seen anything of Arnold.
2. i think Staniforth had a terrific Soup debut against Horwill and Simmons and has a big future - a Wallaby future.

In some ways it is understandable that it's hard for Cheika to find a spot for Godwin & English to get some game time on this tour..the Wallabies only have 6 games to play before the RWC and barring a raft of injuries in their respective positions neither of those two blokes are going to be on the plane to England next year, so what's the point in blooding them now? TGC's priority is to get the combinations and strategy right in the limited game time there is between now and then.
Speight however is a different kettle of fish..I think we have to assume that he didn't pull up 100% after the BaaBaa's game because it's crucial for him to get game time otherwise..more crucial is that he is fit though.

You'd think though the TGC would just give a quick word on that, no? 'Yeah he pulled up a bit sore' or something? While many have said he's not obligated to tell us /the meeja everything, surely the general consensus is that there's a lot of anticipation about him starting.

I saw Arnold play 3 games for the Vikings in the NRC. You couldn't miss him, at 6'11". I think I read somewhere he will the tallest player in Super Rugby if he gets a game.
He isn't Skelton size, though. On the field he looks pretty solid, but when you stand next to him he is very tall and relatively skinny. He can also jump in the lineout.
Blue says he is lumbering and slow. I didn't notice that when I saw him play, but he seemed to get over the gain line pretty well in attack.

Actually, it was started by one, and to be honest, it's very few that use it. It makes me cringe.
