Rumors were circulating all day and according to twitter some interested spectators in the crowd. Anyone heard anything solid? I guess we'd know in a day or two if so.

The team is playing in all facets like nobody is holding them to any standards at training. Which aligns with the school of thought that Graham is too nice a guy and a bit of a soft touch

I didn't think the Reds scrum was that bad considering. I though Lees death rode them a bit in that 7 minute scrum period.

And Talakai has now had the best two loose heads (not in his team) in Aus two weeks in a row. Some of the shine has come off him, but he is still a viable looking option for the future.

Saw a post on Twitter that said they thought they'd seen Matt Taylor outside the ground pre game. Interestingly @RugbyReg liked that tweet.

Richard Graham said:
Score board pressure is one of those things and it gives a team confidence but at the same time it puts pressure on the opposition and we probably weren't able to capitalise on that
.

I see now. It is so clear. The plan is to score lots of points such that the other team has less points and thereby win that match.

Unbelievable insight from the master coach.

(I'm sorry all, but the presser is unbelievably infuriating. He just needs to go right friggen now).

*edit* and he just said that Tapuaii usually plays second guy outside the half back (that would be the inside centre where Richard DOESN'T PLAY HIM!!!!!!!!). At the risk of angering the mods by playing the man and not the ball: RG is a right old plonker.

Yeah but he'd actually be in Scotland coaching at the moment wouldn't he? 6 nations and all?

I'm sure I heard RG on radio this morning say that the Reds can still make the finals this year. Was I dreaming?

Last year the Highlanders made it into the 6 with 8 losses and 10 BP's but the Force missed out with only 7 losses as they only had 5 BP's.
You' de a mug to call it season over after round 5 but with 4 losses already it will require a big turn around from here. Obviously.
The Tahs had 4 losses last year and won the thing! We're on track for the championship if you go by their benchmark!

The RG-train is still heading towards the cliff, but the injury-toll has slowed it down a smidge.

I wonder how many losses with a full strength side will it take to rid ourselves of this clown?

Since about round 4 last year injuries have been the excuse. Every other team plays in the same competition. They are able to minimise injury impacts.

Mitchells final 2 years at Force 45% win rate.
Grahams 2 years 30%

Links final 2 years at QLD 65% win rate (excluding 2 draws)
RG now under 28.5%

We have 15 guys on the field who are full time rugby players. They may not be as talented as some of the guys missing, but talent isn't the problem. These guys can't execute the basics and have no structure or intensity. Physical preparation is awful.

There was major talk that Graham had lost the playing group last season. For some reason that is being glossed over this year, but a group of guys are simply going to miss out on a World Cup because of this guy. You don't think that is going to cause some issues.

Crowd numbers will plummet further than they already have (notice they have gone back to the dark days of not announcing figures at the ground). Memberships are down about 18% on last year, despite the player recruitment drive.

It is beginning to get to the point where the competence of the board and the ceo need to be questioned. How can anybody ever look at RG and his record and say "Yes, this man can lead the Reds to a Super Rugby title". You can end up in the loony bin for far less ridiculous statements.

The reality is I don't think anybody expects the 23 guys who suited up last night to beat that Brumbies team. The results don't help, but they arent the be all and end all.

Our play is awful. All facets. We simply put, aren't up to Super Rugby level. But our list is stronger than many teams. Heck our pack is very good, even with injuries. Individually some are playing great football.

But we got stuck with a coach who was never qualified to coach at this level simply because his school chum was added to the board. Just as well he wasn't added to when he was as we might have sacked Link to bring Graham across.

The scary thing is some of the names being bandied around are in the same mould, but if a popular choice (like a Tattsy got them) and lost 30 games in a row, it would be far better than the situation we are in because there might be a dim light at the end of the tunnel.

And as for injuries, in 2011 we used 36 players, 7 from outside the squad. Only 6 played in every game. In the GF 3 of the 23 started the year outside the squad, including some at 4th choice in their position. It's part of the sport. Others used more, others less but they didn't win the comp

That article brought up some memories.
I still remember the feelings of utter despair being stuck in that log jam in the car park across the road an hour after full time!
Whatever happened to Tom Kingston?
He must have been caught sending sending raunchy texts to the coaches mrs.
Seems to have never to be selected stamped all over his passport.

Kingston was injured at the start of the season, not sure now. But he won't force out Shipperley, and will be hard pushed to push out English and Naivalu ("local" boy playing very well) for the other wing spot. In the centres, both Inman and Ellison would be ahead of him now, and Mikey Mike and Placid maybe at fullback, plus Hegarty too.

So unfortunate run of injuries, and will be tough to play his way back into the team.

Yeah, the Reds are still odds on to beat the Lions with guys like Simmons, Cooper, Holmes, JOC (James O'Connor), Kerevi all back in the starting team hopefully, along with Turner and JJT both of whom may start or go to the bench. Beau and Quirk may also be available, but I doubt they will make the matchday 23.

The Reds will nearly be at full strength, certainly as close as could be expected at any time in the season.

You look at the Lions roster and the Reds roster, and the Reds should win easily. Right now, I'd say they'd either scrape out a win, if they win at all.

A loss to the Lions would be devastating, though. If crowds continue to be woeful and memberships struggle, I'd expect Carmichael to act on the coach. He can't ignore the fans for much longer.

David Wilson (68)
You're right, on paper the Reds should win, but the Lions aren't as bad as the score would indicate. They played a pretty much full strength Crusaders team and it was only 13-3 at half time. True the Crusaders ran away with it, but it took them a while to put the Lions away. Much of the win was built on scrum dominance.

RG would be having sleepless nights.

He wouldn't be game to answer the phone.

He definitely won't be signed for another stint.

He is a dead man walking.

The question for Carmichael and McCall is how long will the walk be?

The large injury list will be enough of a reason to give him another two weeks. The bye, followed by (hopefully) returning players who will take on the 12th placed Lions, will be the only further opportunities that the board can give Graham. Homeground advantage for the Reds will also help their cause. If they lose, Graham should be gone.
The two weeks will also give the board time to line up the next coach.
