Try swinging on that.

Turning out that Hooper / Pocock complement each other perfectly - they play different games, but work so well together, - great seeing them both playing.

My preference was QC (Quade Cooper), but shit Foley has played awesome rugby and would be my first choice starter now. I was impressed with his running options, and straightening the line - cracking game and got my 3 points.

Beale again wasn't in my 23 - at the anthem he had the passion, and the grab of his mates jersey when it finished - he was there to play. When he came on his contributions and timings were spot on.

Screw the Ashes, its all about rugby.

Time for England to begin the post-mortem.

When England toured NZ last year they looked like a side that was on track to be a contender, but they seem to have gone backwards this year.

For me the loss of some key personnel was a big blow to their chances. Tuilagi was meant to be the linchpin of their attack, and they never found a suitable replacement. Hartley and Corbs were also a big loss. It seems so much of England's game-plan required dominance in the set-piece but other teams seem to have passed them in scrum since 2014. I'm not an expert so I don't know if its personnel issues or coaching.

On a re-watch of this game, one thing that was immediately evident was arm-chair ride the Wallabies were getting at the breakdown. Admittedly the Wallabies ruck work (both on attack and defense) was excellent. but the English didn't even try attacking the breakdown.

are we back to no.2 in the world rankings?

Yes, I definitely think so.

I thought we'd get there with any victory but 15+ gives us even more points so we should be a fair bit above Wales.

RWC is already double points, then we had the benefit of England being an actual home side and then we won by 15+.

You're making rugby sound like a washing powder. Doesn't work

That's pro sports though today -- it's more of a commodity than an ethos. At least in larger communities. Places like Wales are romantic in that they're small enough to engender that ethos. But there are more people in Sydney than all of Wales, so it's not as easy to reach those same percentage through family and folklore alone.

I think we could see a Lancaster resignation press conference as early as Sunday (London time).

If the RFU wants to get rid of him, it might take a bit longer than that - I am pretty sure he is on a long contract. It will cost them, but, then again, they had the money to poach Burgess!!

Japan can only make QF's if Scotland lose to Samoa

Can't see SA losing to USA

Samoa were lucky to beat USA - only some bizarre refereeing got them home. On last night's performance against Japan, Samoa would be flat out beating anyone.

Probably be a whole lot more of these packages that will now come on to the market offering access to previously sold out England games.

Oh, that's right, there's only one more England Match to go.

Someone asked if they reckon sam burgess worth the reported $1.2m per year they are paying him

100% absolutely as he is a marketable well known player that will attract league as well as union audiences and from marketing perspective he is gold. Given early days in rugby for him I think he is doing fine and will only get better as top class athlete

Fantastic for the game to get these sort of high profile atheletes who offer huge marketing potential to grow the game.

Sonny bill williams, Folau and burgess are worth every penny and dollar they are paid

I'm pretty sure you are:

http://www.lassen.co.nz/pagmisc.php#hrh

Ratings going in were Eng (home) 82.35 Aus 86.75, non-neutral venue & a RWC fixture so Aus should now be on 89.33 v Wal 87.31

I make Eng drop to 7th place just 0.11 points ahead of ARG in 8th, and 0.72 points ahead of SCO in 9th place. It is getting tight at the bottom of the single digits ranks.

FRA leapfrogs ENG into 6th place.

It is all a little academic with IRB Rankings not meaning not a lot ATM.
