He wasn't replaced after the conversion it was almost 5 mins later after he had been involved in a number of plays and had taken the ball into contact a couple of times.
It was a call from the sidelines to bring him off for a head check.
It's just as likely that he was gassed and they wanted to bring him off with the option to bring him back if the Reds scored again.

Re: Beale's concussion test - his knock from the kick and chase hit him in the sternum and he was winded. He hit his head on a bloke's shoulder making a tackle a couple of minutes later. He really put his body on the line last night.
EDIT: I didn't see too much in the Goromaru v Beale incident. Goromaru turned his back (standard), Beale angled in and caught Goromaru's elbow. Likewise, I didn't think Beale was playing for the penatly either, he looked winded.

What can be said about this game?
The Tahs were pretty good for 20 minutes and scored their tries. The Reds had no idea despite being even if not in front statistically. The Tahs pack up metaphorically go home for the night, job done, the drop in intensity was so marked. I as very impressed with the Tahs for those first 20, thinking that the transition to Gibson and the loss of Kepu, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) et al had been covered generally pretty well. After that 20, not so much. Regarding the scrum I was immediately reminded of a couple of Blues supporters I spoke to about Ta'avao and they said he was pretty ordinary and nothing that special in terms of THP. My fears about the loss of Kepu exposing the front row will be realised after that I think even though the Reds scrum is one of the best going around. The lineout remains a key weakness as it has for the last couple of years and it is a big reason why they will be a mid table side this year.
The Reds are the same as they have been for the last two years, no structures in attack past first phase or the "break" by an individual. There are no support structures for the ball carrier. The statistics have consistently shown the Reds to be even if no in front on paper in terms of rucks, metres run etc. over the past two years and the trials. The big problem is that the statistics don't show that those run metres as mostly behind the gain line, and the ruck ball is slow and pressured whenever their opposition choose to. There was no doubt at all last year that Graham was out of his depth, this year is going to be a long one for Reds fans.
Anybody doubting the fairy land that RG lives in regarding how the Reds play have a look at the media conference, the loss of their 12 after 20 minutes (when the Tahs scored all their points pretty much and played their best) was largely responsible for the Reds lack of backline cohesion. I had a laugh in the second half when the Reds kept opting for the scrum, They were England in red shirts, playing for scrum penalties three tries down. Then a Captain paying attention would have seen that two Tahs props had been replaced for injury and would have gone for the lineout, with Robinson going to the Blood bin 15 minutes earlier and therefore unable to return not making the time window (even if he passed the head concussion test) and Ta'avao gone with a broken nose and head knock. But no lets opt for another scrum and then look bewildered and complain when its uncontested. It really sums up the Reds, they don't think past first phase.
I though Gardiner was consistent and there were no real controversial calls.

First thoughts on last night are that the Waratahs haven't improved on their set piece problems that have limited opportunities and added pressure on them over the past few years (including 2014).
Second thought is that our attack and ball in hand play is beginning to remind me of the old Crusaders style, and is an absolute joy to watch.
Other than that, I want to say that our defence was impeccable, but it's hard to say how great it was when it was confronted with an absolutely abysmal Reds attack.
On the other stuff - I think it's a shame that the crowds for the Reds derby no longer gets close to selling out, but the level of feeling that used to exist in these games does seem noticeably diminished in recent years. These games, whilst often dour, used to be full of feeling, but now just feel like another game with tensions flaring within minutes.
That said, Qld used to win these bloody games no matter what the form of the sides, so maybe that had a bit to do with it.

Frisby drifts a lot before he picks up runners and shape and structure is God awful and a continuation on of last season where our ball carriers get isolated a ton . How many turnovers last night in the strike zone ?
Jake Mac also drifts a ton and doesn't square to the line
Friz and Mac are a significant part of the problem ( technically ) as to why we can't crack the game line with go-forward ball

I've found over recent years that it's harder to 'feel the hate' for the Reds. Particularly over the past few seasons. Watching the Tahs effectively allow the Reds to run at them for 60 minutes last night with only one try for that effort while being essentially clueless for the rest of that time was sad.
For me, the Brumbies are the new most hated opponent. I'd love to see the Reds return to that mantle but it's not likely with Mr 28% at the helm.

this was the first time i had heard Simmons speak (at the post match interview) he doesn't strike me as the the brightest bloke going around. Captains as well as being leaders of men, require a Rugby IQ and need to understand the nuances of game strategy and be able to think on the run. (this was my biggest criticism of Higgers at the Rebels, some really dumb tactical decisions at times ). is Simmons only filling in till Slipper returns ? No wonder Gill was pissed off. Perhaps RG couldn't afford to have a captain who out thinks him

wasn't directly having a go at him. was replying to the comment about his captaincy skill. he is a very good footballer and i don't know him personally so i assume he is a good bloke also, just apparently not a captain at this stage. i will give him the benefit of the doubt, perhaps just a bit buggered after the game and not used to the questioning. wasn't really meaning to be offensive.

Tahs attack pattern worked really well, but only when they had the ball, which disappeared along with the scrum and lineout. I'd hope there are a few alarms ringing for Cam Blades
There were quite a few executional errors which consistently gave the reds their best chances, even if bungled. Hopefully this is an early season thing.

I sincerely hope Cam is a better forwards coach than Andrew. The Wallabies forwards work, especially set piece were very poor under Andrew, yet much improved with similar players under Chieka/Ladesma, even if the lineout has never been given enough specialist attention.
