Apart from Petterson (5), I wouldn't consider anyone to be particularly big. Fenn (8) and Rorke (6) are certainly and intimidating presence in the forwardsbut are their given positions, are fairly irrelevant at scrum time.

You may have a point!

I would've thought that Riverview had one of the bigger packs this year?

I would say Newington have the biggest front row.

Riverview the biggest back row.

Joeys probably the smallest pack overall.

Kings by far the best scrumaging pack pack regardless of size,

Shores back row is small (particularly with Allen & Burrows out)

So Wistbands, if Scots get done by Shore next week, I take it you will be accept that Scots should have no players selected.

No because in that event Shore would have a record of 5 losses and 1 win and still be bottom.
Scots would have a record of 4 wins and 2 losses and still be in the top half.
I hope it is a close game.
Shore really lifted at Bellevue Hill and almost stole the match in 2014 against the unbeaten Scots premiers.

What a fantastic second half of the season we have to look forward to. Any of the bottom three could on their day beat any of the top three and if any team manages to take the premiership outright they will thoroughly deserve it!

Don't worry I was there. Still traumatized. Ahead with 5 to go. Scots go in the corner to take lead. . Shore come back with continuous pick and drive about 15 meteres out, then Emery has a brain explosion and box kicks. end of match

Can you tell me why Haskins was combined states half back in 2015?
To further emphasise my point the NZ Blues are on the bottom of the NZ conference and still manage to have three starting all black players week in week out (Tony Woodcock, Jerome Kaino and Keven Mealamu)

Haskins or Brown are the only two opinions and IMO Haskins is better on defence and has a better pass

Haven’t seen the video but apparently Haskins did not play so how did you compare!!!. It is a good thing that the GPS teams are not selected by the Shore fathers who dominate this forum with agenda based comments.Last level playing field was 2014 NSW side where Brown got the points. He is the top point scorer in the GPS at present in one of the top teams.Best to not bag players in a lame attempt to promote your own and leave this one to the selectors who hopefully don't have agendas
Stats from GPS website

Kings – Equal top of table - Brown 2 tries 12 penalties 9 conv - 64 points
Shore - Bottom of the table - Haskins 2 tries – 10 points

From what i've seen he's just a quality player. His size and ball skills are hard to ignore, and running game is unrivalled in the GPS amongst halfs.

Does anyone know when he will return from injury?

@Boxhead, I think you will find Desbola closely associated with Newington Not Shore.

Either way, both are very good Half Backs. It will definitely be between those 2 for the 9 Jersey. And as with pretty well every position there is no certainty who will be named. But Haskins did get high honors last year and has played very well this year so probably is a nose in front.

I don't think Goal kicking ability will come into it. Selectors will be looking for speed of service to 10 and other Ball runners, quality of pass, defense and decision making and all round ability.

There are plenty of young men born in 1997 who are not attending Private Schools and are experiencing their rugby in the U20 Colts Competition run by NSW Premiership Rugby.

In that competition the young men aged 17 years are playing "proper" rugby and are not constrained by Under 19 Laws Variations, although Colts 3rd Grade does operate under the U19 Laws Variation (go figure).

It does not seem to harm those 17 year old young men. Given the specialist coaching and S&C programs that "the Big Rugby Schools" have for their 1st XV and 2nd XV, there could be a reasonable case argued for AAGPS, CAS and ISA 1st XV competitions being played under Seniir Rugby Laws.

U19 Laws just encourages Coaches to select 8 loose forwards who can tackle for their engine room. The big strong slow oxen and bulldozers that are needed in proper rugby can be overlooked for the fancy boys that enjoy a good seagull and don't like putting their head into dark places.

HJ, IMO I'd suggest that even in 'proper rugby" the bullocks we used to see ponderously plodding around the park, leaving 6 inch deep craters that swallowed up unsuspecting hairdressers appear to be going the way of the dinosaur, particular at the elite level.

At school boy level I think it's great that lads who have the right physique and skill get the opportunity to build versatility into their repertoire rather than being type cast. I also think it's smart for the game long term because such versatility potentially keeps them playing in the game well beyond school.

I also don't know that the modern 15 man game can afford to have great big slow bookends on the park whose main contribution is just to the magnificent spectacle and test of masculinity that is "the scrum". Unless of course you are suggesting that we get rid of the 7 whining hairdressers and pitch three sets of tight five (apex predators) versus three sets of tight five in a scrumfest battle to the death. If that's what you are suggesting, I'd applaud you for your innovative thinking and reckon you are on to something!;)

I was led to believe when growing up that there was a position for every body type on the rugby field. It seems the way things are progressing we'll soon stop calling the forwards, forwards, and they'll just be the 1st VIII.

Now that's the sort of clear thinking we need...:) .. And besides no one really cares what the 7 prissy, baton twirling, handbag aficionados do anyhow. Your idea also gives rise to another great battle....I.e who gets to carry the First VIII banner.... The rowers or the real men?.... Put it this way I wouldn't be backing the rowers!

not a shore father, couldn't dislike the school more, as an ex-New boy from last year, based opinion watching both play over many years for school and club footy and also the rumour from the a certain selector i know
