I think Stander has got the nod over cottrell as cottrell's recent injury has slowed him down a bit. injury management as well as form.

The big problem with recruiting young talent from over east is that if they are good enough, they will typically go back. Siliva Siliva, Paul Alo-Emilie, Luke Jones, James O'Connor and Digby Ioane spring to mind. I guess it is the same risk with RSA players but you aren't paying through the nose for them. I think the strategy changed as the Rebels came in because we can't compete with Melbourne for being closer to home but getting an equal opportunity.

It is disappointing the the Force aren't taking a closer look at players from the NRC instead or maybe they are but they are getting turned down. Guys like Tala Grey or Sam Windsor would have been good value.

Jake White did a really good job moulding scraps into a strong team. We should hit him up as a recruitment consultant.

If the QRU pass on Stiles then I'd be surprised if he doesn't get a chance.

Perfect illustration of what wrong with the Force - always being thrown the left overs. For once the ARU need to make sure they get top quality not left overs.

PS: I don't see anyone else looking at Stiles.

Who though? Who is out there ? I would love to see Link have a crack there, or maybe Fisher.

Maybe Matt Taylor ?

rumours that Joe Schmidt will be axed after Ireland's tour of South Africa.

Might be worth a chat

When you are working with mostly scraps you need to be the most innovative people going in order to make the most of what you have got.

I loved a lot of what I heard about Peter Playford in the NRC. It would be great to get him over in some capacity. Hopefully he isn't sour about the deal that fell through with the Force some five or six years back.

Good suggestion, FF (Folau Fainga'a). What about Blackadder, or Rennie, as HC with Playford and Blake as assistants?

Playford is some sort of marketing guru in Sydney, and is apparently more focused on his developing his business career than his rugby coaching career.

He gave good interviews during NRC 2015 though. He'd be a breath of fresh air to the Aust rugby coaching environment if he decided to have a lash at the gig full time.

I like Rennie. Even though they are a pack of bastards, I like how the Chiefs try out different approaches to gaining an advantage in the game (e.g. if a kick-off is received and the jumper comes to ground and is not tackled, there is no offside line). Creative thinking. But the reason I think Rennie did so well is because he knew so many of the players and their strengths and weaknesses from his time with the U20s. I often wonder if Cruden would have stayed with the Hurricanes if not for Rennie.

This is the reason I think we should be looking closely at Adrian Thompson. He might be just the influence to attract some of the younger guys over to Perth (unless they think he is a bit shit).

Junior Rasolea has signed a contract with Edinburgh. He's out of the picture for 2017.

Not sure if that's news, he just posted it to his Facebook pages

Richard Graham was signed through until the end of 2016.

Contracts don't mean as much as they used to in professional sport nowadays.
