Correct, his technique is generally sound, but he gets no power or distance into his punts. They tend to be harbour bridge style drop punts which lob harmlessly.

All five of their super teams spent the whole year playing that style. I don't know why it would be a surprise to anyone let alone the coaching staff.

I truly believe half the side should be booted - fairly or unfairly, and threaten to tear up their contracts.
Bring in some younger players not so much that they will win next week, or the week after.

For the 8 starters from the 23 players last weekend, I'd keep on Slipper, TPN, Douglas, Pocock, Fardy, Ginea, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), and Folua.
Any suggestions who the other 7 starters should be?
I'd nominate Tongan Thor, Coleman, McMahon/Timani, Cooper, Hodge (at I/C), Kerevi, & Mitchell.

Players who aren't playing super rugby need to be thanked for services past and allowed to return to Europe. Long term, it's poor policy to bring these guys back at the expense of younger guys.
What incentive is there for young blokes to bust their arse every week and endure the arduous travel of super rugby, when blokes living it up in the south of France can lob back and get a spot. (And yes, I'd love to be able to spend an extended time in the south of France)

^^^^^^^ the incentive they'd draw from this situation would most likely be to get their own contracts with a south of France side. Better money, better lifestyle and no diminution of their chances to play for the Wallabies in two to three years time when they return.

Finally got to watch the whole match and maybe my expectations were dampened by the general vitriol.
Observations:
1. The ABs were awesome
2. If you judge the individuals on the basis of how they implement the team plan, and think about what the game says about that plan, the start point for solving this isdue is nothing the players but Ledesma and Grey.
3. Our biggest issue was the demise of inside centre through multiple injuries. We've seen unexpected bench selections prove at fault with this kind of isdue in the past, but not this game.
4. We are over reacting against a number of players. I count in this group: Squeak, Simmons, Hooper, Foley.
5. Players these pages have been over-hyping include: Douglas, Pocock, DH-P.
6. We are sending off a massive servant to the game, with an outrage that is not just undeserved but is outrageoys. Gitteau, I have mot allways been a believer, but I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
7. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) is welcome as a leader in this group. But we need someone new.
8. Pocock is the "second seven" that should go, not Hooper. I value Pocock, but he's leaving, and Hoopers input has been under rated.
9. There was nothing/little wrong with Squeak's captaincy, or input.
10. The LO is a shambles. Simmo was on a hiding to nothing with his options, and the "clever crap". Mumm did no better.
11. For that matter the irritation with Mumm (not one of my favourites) is overdone.
The three main issues were the Line Out, our kicking, and the falter at inside center. Outside of that we have a real issue with game analysis and strategy.
Its NOT imvho a matter of insifficient cattle. At least to stay in touch with th marvelous ABs.

I choose not to. Unfortunately, I watched it sober, and I can't imagine being tempted to do so again.

@ForceFan hasn't done all the stats yet but his quick run-down for breakdown involvements show something quite different to what you seem to be seeing with Hooper & Pocock.
This is why I think Pocock was the best Wallaby on the park.

39 ruck involvements and a turn over for every 3 defensive ruck involvements - Pocock has probably not been hyped enough IMO
Has anyone been brave enough to suggest that we just don't have enough talent to compete against the All Blacks ?
The lack of talent stems from the lack of people playing Rugby in Australia. I live in one of the strongholds of Rubgy in Australia on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. When I travel up and down the beaches on a Saturday or Sunday, all I ever see see is football (soccer) being played on maybe 93% of fields, maybe 5% Rugby League and the last 2% shared between Rugby and Aussie Rules. That's about it. Ok I am only estimating here but that is what my eyes are telling me. I suspect the situation is the same in other parts of Sydney, Brisbane and the rest of NSW, Qld.
How are we ever going to compete with the All Blacks when hardly anybody plays the sport at grass roots ? The situation has been getting worse the past few years and it is of hardly surprising that the gap between the Wallabies and the All Blacks has never been so large.
I think we are kidding ourselves if we think that changing the coach, changing and cutting players is going to make things better. The talent just isn't there..

Sorry, but that is garbage. We have more talent at our disposal now that at any time previously. We may not be as good as them, as is often the case, but we have pretty much always been one of the sides that they are genuinely concerned about. We also may not have the resources to pull from that they, SA or England do, but once again that is nothing new.
Let's just put that notion to bed please.

Ruck Involvements - Bled 1 2016
Apologies for the delay but family stuff and it wasn't easy watching this game 3 times to gather this data.
Remember:
1. Early means 1st or 2nd of player’s team AFTER the ball carrier has been tackled and brought to ground.
2. Impact means active engagement: strong physical contact, changed shape of ruck, clean-out, protecting ball etc. (more than hand on someone’s bum or arriving after the hard work has been done). Yes it’s subjective - but as I collect all data at least it’s consistent.
3. Impact DOES NOT equate to Effectiveness. I’ve concluded that coming up with an effectiveness measure is just too hard in the time that I have available – but open to suggestions.

Sorry G&Gers - just grabbed and commented on some incorrect data.
The Wallabies Front Row actually outworked the ABs Front Row for DRIs.
The opposite was the case for Locks.
The ABs Back Row of Cane, Kaino & Read matched the %DRIs of McCalman, Hooper and Pocock.
This is a big step up from the RWC Final where the ABs Back Row made only 35% of the ABs DRIs compared to the Wallabies Back Row's 61% of Wallabies DRIs.
3. The All Blacks showed a high commitment to support their ball carriers averaging 2.6 players involved per Attack Ruck. This is higher than the average of any Aussie Team in SR2016. By contrast the Wallabies averaged only 2.2 players involved per Attack Ruck.
4. The All Blacks stood off many Defence Rucks and averaged only 0.7 players placing pressure on the Wallabies ball carriers. This is about the same level of involvement as averaged by Aussie teams in SR2016. The All Blacks earned 8 TOW - 1TOW per 7.6 DRIs.
5. The Wallabies showed a higher level of involvement in Defence Rucks averaging 1.0 players placing pressure on the All Blacks ball carriers. The Wallabies earned 12 TOW - 1TOW per 8.3 DRIs.
6. Pocock earned an impressive 7TOW - 1TOW per 3 DRIs.
7. Hooper earned only the single TOW - 1TOW per 13DRIs.
8. Owen Franks and Wyatt Crockett ( a player much maligned by Aussie fans) showed high rates of ruck involvement - mostly supporting their ball carriers. Head and shoulders above the efforts of any Wallabies starting Front Rower.
9. Good Ruck Involvements from replacements - Ardie Savea and Liam Squire for the All Blacks and Allan Ala'alatoa for the Wallabies.

Kuridrani - 21 Total (13 Attack/8 Defence)
(In addition to his game-high 17 tackles - none missed, 2OL, 7carries for 25m)
Don't underestimate the impact of Ruck Involvements by players such as Kuridrani, To'omua and Horne.
