Looking at City's front row I think the game will be determined by how many dropped balls there are. Good thing the weather is fine.

Just had a look at the betting, the over/under is at 70.5 points. This make me think we wont see much defence.

Eagles with a 1 point start and both teams paying the same head to head.

Hanigan looks very very good. Lyman Tui covering lots of ground and leading the aggression. Just got caught twice over stepping the mark and sat down for 10

Early 2nd half and NSW Country is up three tries to one -- and would seem to be powering home.

I've always rated their coach, and now he has a very solid squad.

(Don't rate the team promotion of the Eagles now that Uni has taken over, though, just like the Stars before them. When the old consortium was in charge of the Country side, they had good social media presence and promoted it better.)

Was the Horan-Little trophy offered for this away game? <edit: from the Brisbane p.o.v. it would seem thankfully not! >

I thought after holding it for 2 away games it would be on the line every game. But perhaps that resets every year.

Give the Shield a break.

Playing it at every game the holder plays in cheapens the prestige of the shield.

It is supposed to be hard to get.

It has to be won by beating the current holder at their home oval. Leave it at that. If no other side can beat the holder at home, then the holder deserves to keep the Shield.

Shield not challenged for by the eagles and not offered by City. Why would they.

Yeah, I agree with not having it on the line every week.

If teams have to win it by beating the holders on their own patch, more often than not (or IMO, every time, but ARU have not gone that way), then winning the Shield is more notable - and worth more.

I guess a toss up between him and Godwin in having two 12s in the side.

Godwin has obviously played a fair bit of 13 (but it hasn't been close to his best position).

I guess we'll see how this works out for the Eagles.

I always thought Horwitz was a 10 rather than 12, and after today's efforts I think he would be better value at 10 than Deegan.

What is with young No 10s in this country. From schoolboys onwards all the way to Super Rugby, there seems to be a preference for the player who just shovels the ball along the backline, and who can kick a bit for touch. Aren't they expected to take the line on themselves? McIntyre, Deegan, Mason, Foley and others just don't look like international 10s (potential or actual).

And the Shield gathers more mysticism about it.

Horwitz has some defensive frailties that need to be ironed out of his game if he is to progress beyond being a fringe Super Rugby player.

Was clicking on fox sports to see what time wallabies game was on and saw they were televising bris vs country so watched the last 20 mins

Sums up the marketing as did not even know fox sports were televising this game. Or another example of poor basic marketing in nrc. Thought I might go to see Rams play at north Sydney oval so go to Rams site to find out the kick off time but they only have 2015 draw loaded and squad for game at north Sydney oval listed but again no time.

Then go to rugby.com.au site and click on the fixture but nope page won't load - so lastly go to Rays site and finally there get the time.

So let's make it as hard as possible for someone to even find when a game is on...if can't even list basic fixtures and times for nrc games than what hope has this competition got..

Absolute joke
