Just spotted Alex Mafi with a Brothers cap on. I guess now he's a professional rugby player the Bond scholarship isn't so attractive anymore.

Big blow

He might just literally have his brothers hat on.

You're reading way too far into this:
1 - as mentioned before, his brother plays at the club...
2 - he went to nudgee and majority of the nudgee boys ended up at brothers. so it could've been very simply his mates hat. I'm pretty sure he's still studying, playing footy and completing his fair share of clinic/visit work at schools and what not. So why would he change, I'm sure the travel alone from Bond to Ballymore is enough to keep him on his toes. Now you're saying that he'll be doing the rounds from Bond for classes, Ballymore for reds AND Crosby Park.

And the photo was ON THE GOLD COAST at mermaid beach... If you gave us a photo of him training at crosby park, that would make a little more sense, but none of this rumour stuff hey.

Mafi will also need to schedule some lineout throwing practice as well regardless of who he's playing for.

With all due respect for the rugby program at Bond but I would have thought that playing for Brothers would be a better option for his ongoing rugby education.

As a kid who went through a lot of injuries in high school, I'm sure he holds a plan B career high in his priorities. Likewise with Luka, both guys who had injuries throughout high school and well regarded footy players who would be looking at the grand scheme of things. Credit to Bond for providing the opportunity to the 2 young men to help them in footy and in life.

Bond will struggle to retain Reds contracted players, training twice a day at Ballymore while living on the Gold Coast is a massive ask..

Contracted players usually only do the captains run really anyway.

He can make it to the Goldy by 7:45 for the captains run on a Thursday, right? ;)

False alarm

Bond have also confirmed Geoff Townsend, head coach of Gordon in the Shute Shield, to take over from Sean Hedger. Article on Reds site

King, you may need to get your facts straight before shooting from the hip. Geoff Townsend will take over from Brad Harris as Prem Colts Head Coach. Sean Hedger is going nowhere as far as I know as stated in the article.

You're right. The bottom line of the post was obscured when I saw it. I read "Townsend has been appointed head coach of the 2017 Bond University Premier"

Colts was the next line. My bad :)

Is it now confirmed that Mack Mason will be heading to the Tahs. Tigers may need to call Matt Brandon out of retirement.

I rode past it this more and I couldn't believe what I was looking at. I thought they were rebuilding the Coliseum!
Pending what the stadium is like, it probably wouldn't be a bad location to hold finals, plenty of public transport and the Regatta down the road. Much more appealing than the mission to Balleymore + never ending beer lines.

Imagine the price of parking now!!
Do they still have field 2 out the back there?
The field runs North South now?
Great work West's, can't wait to visit!
