Am i the only one that gets the shits when some supremely talented mungo pisses it all away? Millions of people would take what JOC (James O'Connor) has and gone to the moon and back.

Yeah, I do, but from his perspective he's known nothing else. He's always been one of the best at what he does up through age groups, as opposed to the rest of us who wish we'd ever been good enough to play at the highest level. Not saying that should be a reason to take it for granted, but he's always had another opportunity / fat contract even when he stuffs up, so perhaps the perspective is awry. Not to mention having smoke blown up his arse for the past 10 years.
I don't feel sorry for him though - by now he should have worked it out better.

Putting rugby aside for a moment JOC (James O'Connor) has always been a "tool", from when he was a schoolboy star as a young lad to the present time.

The latest incident definitely shows he's not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Amirite,
I'm not suggesting you have to be an activist to disagree with a law.
Simply that if you don't like a law, you are never-the-less obliged to obey it. If you really believe it should be changed, do something about it, don't just break it.
I also don't accept that someone who takes hallucinogenic drugs can not possibly, as a result, endanger other people.

I did say I think we just disagree. Where do we draw this line in a society where you can campaign for change, but ultimately just have to accept what you're given. I think the example of cannabis being used in medication illegally is an excellent example of this conundrum.

In addition, of course I can't say someone taking hallucinogenic drugs can not possibly endanger other people, hypothetically anyone could endanger people. But a 1:1 comparison to drunk driving when you're literally controlling a missile with no control over yourself is a bit much.
Amirite for Dictator
Great contribution.

Also, calling someone that's arguing for a more logical interpretation of the law a dictator because you disagree is a bit on the nose. Pot meet kettle?

I got in serious trouble with the mods for literally calling someone a goose, I wonder if they'll care that you've called me a dictator.

My problem with him,is that I don't think he's ever acknowledged/accepted that he's ever stuffed up.

I'm pretty sure that right now, he has no regrets.
No Aussie franchise wants him?
No prob I'll go to France and double my income.
Gets arrested for coke?
Hmm everyone does it, I was just unlucky,or worse, targeted because of my immense talent.....

If this was a one-off for JOC (James O'Connor) I'd be inclined to say "silly boy, take your punishment and get back out on the paddock and dominate", but it's not. It's a pattern of behaviour that makes him toxic to any sensible club, especially here in OZ. I get the impression that he's been a little overindulged when he was younger and he thought his immense talent will get him whatever he wants in life. The parallel to Fev is pretty apt. I'm a dyed in the wool Carlton man and even I said cut him loose, even it hurt the team on the paddock in the short term. Eventually Fev woke up to himself and he's better now.

You can't have loose cannons like these blokes in your squad, because they become a cancer in the whole playing group. We saw KB (Kurtley Beale) and QC (Quade Cooper) banished for similar reasons and they've come back more mature and more willing to subjugate their own aims in the interest of team success. We certainly saw in RWC2015 KB (Kurtley Beale) become much more of a team player and results followed.

So until JOC (James O'Connor) grows up a bit, see ya later. I won't get into the moral issues of the situation he finds himself in. I have my own views that I won't bore people with.

That's the crux of it for me. He strikes me as a bloke who says everything is everyone else's fault and doesn't do self-reflection.

You misread my post which is funny in itself.

How else are you going to change the law in a conservative nation such as this unless you or anybody else becomes a dictator.

I said the word "for" not was.

But your view of the world and what's in it particularly when it comes to illegal drugs is interesting.

Fair enough. I misinterpreted.

I don't agree with the libertarians on many things. Drugs are the exception.

New theme song for The Brand - Angels "Take a long line" in 7s fashion should be played whenever (if he ever) he takes the field in future.

There is something not right mentally with O'Connor. He needs help. I would hate to see something seriously happen to his welfare. I think that could happen. Its very sad and such a waste
With the injuries etc that doesn't help, leads to depression and with spare time on his hands
Whats his family doing, his old man ?? He needs to get out from over there and get back home for a while with the family and sort things out.
Get rid of the hanger ons, his manager, some of the people he hangs around etc.. If he was playing for the Broncos in NRL he would have the old man Wayne Bennett putting him under his wing like a son and supporting him , just like he has done with Darius Boyd a former problem child. No one has done this for him from an early age and guided him through

Always a shame to see someone unable to handle life and I think quite soon his life will become much harder when his talent no longer provides the income he needs.

Happens in all walks of life some people's make up is such that they finish up in heaps of trouble. I am reminded years ago I was working in NZ and there was this gun welder, was paid an insane amount of money and lost it within hours betting each week.

Saw him many years latter lying in a gutter life in disarray brought him a meal and a pot of tea.

I don't think O'Conner is spoilt I think more he just can't control himself and never will.
