QLD GPS Rugby 2018

Apparently he’s back

But there was a condition that security be beefed up around the boarding house to protect against stalkers

Well I guess I will just have to wait for more clues before understanding what you are referencing.

Back to rugby. I’m serious about Terrace chances. Many first fifteen reps are back and the 16A team lost 5 games last year but all by margins of 5 or less from memory. A strong position to make the charge. For the title.

But ....with what ? 6 or so of last year’s U16 in Firsts and for the fact the U16 team then lost 5 probably says a bit about talent depth ( on a comparative basis) not being there to the level it was assumed to be

You could understand that 2017 U16 GT Team losing to TSS and Nudgee -but losses beyond those 2 last year is telling .

There is 1 x player from last year’s U15’s that has a shot of being a contributor who can make plays in Opens Football against some teams .......but outside of that guy , there is literally nothing coming from this year’s 16’s that can add depth of talent.

So .....GT will have their Top half dozen that is sorta / kinda around the top 3 or 4 other Schools best half dozen ( but not really ) and will have the same supporting cast that couldn’t get it done in U16’s last year

I actually like Brisbane Grammar over GT and I am very interested to see how TGS pull it all off given how hard they have gone in the last year or two with this year’s Opens.

Agree with Brisbane Grammar I like them more than your previous odds suggest. I like the culture that is coming through from the coaches, in particularly Paul Wawrick. Am I allowed to ask who the GT U 15 last year is that has the chance for opens this year?

Meh

Does that mean all the other Junior Origin boys will also be concentrating on their potential NRL careers and bypass Schoolboy Rugby Rep ?

I know there is an emerging trend where “ best” in AIC that are also so aligned in league don’t tend to worry about Schoolboy Rugby Rep as a priority .

I hope this changes though as there is genuinely 1 x inside back in AIC that would smoke anyone from any School in either code

A big part of the issue in identification is unreasonable levels of promotion and hype based on unsupported reputation (un supported based on actual performance that y’know , are based on fundamentals and making plays that have impact in winning games - or having the oppprtinity to win games)

The games and match ups matter - and then need to be viewed in proper context taking into account overarching elements of quality / depth of team - combinations etc )

To a very large degree “promoters” in the ID pathway tend to “worship” pretty easily (based on unwarranted Reputations based off boosting) but then struggle to “value”

And if these types don’t understand what this means then therein lies the problem

I mean why should Schoolboy Squads be picked based on what they did in U15 or U16 as a determinant ? And yet they are picked before the start of the GPS Season - and then literally only 2 or 3 get call ups after their Season depending on injury unavailabilities , individual performance and to a lesser degree how the team fared - maybe in the context of that individual’s performance

I mean last year ...how could TSS’s Lachlan Vine and Nudgee’s Hayden Moseley miss out ? I don’t believe either were designated junior “stars” in the Talent ID pathway - but they were probably best in their position last GPS Season

No one deserves to be kissed on the dick and boosted to the next level just because they played on whatever prior junior rep team

Games , and proving yourself in games , based on real data ,matter to fairly and accurately understand who’s who in the zoo

Hamiso would probably be the first lad picked in a Qld Schools team this year, that doesn't mean he will play though.
He was picked in both Qld1 ( opens) and Qld Red (U16) last year and for what ever reason opted not to play in either, maybe the league programme does have his priority?

Terrace also much better rugby culture than third on the betting line.

Well that did not reflect in results last year with: 1) BBC wining A matches over GT in 12/13/14/15 by over 30 points, along with 2nds and 1sts; 2) GT have a "rugby review" and appoint an ex BBC coach as new 1st xv coach
