Nudgee has Reesjan Pasitoa
Terrace has Will Roche and Will Kirk
BBC has the 15 and Carter Gordon

These are the standouts

OK so here is the updated Owen's book for January

TSS - $1.50
Nudgee - $2.00
BBC - $12.00
TGS - $15.00
Terrace - $50.00
Grammar - $50.00
BSHS - $65.00
IGS - $75.00
Churchie $100.00

Get some

Obviously no confidence in GT. They will be very competitive and their 2017 16A boys with a pretty average win/loss ratio (but close margins) will have a point to prove. Complementing the returning players from First XV and a couple of others, they are more like 7/8-1.

That's all cool BAG but the majority ( 6 ) of your returning players are backs and apart from your 9 I don't see any of the others as top 1 or 2 likely in their position

4th to 5th feels about right to me
I guess you are putting your boys at 3rd ?

Nudgee and TSS proved themselves the strongest U16 teams last year with "best of" U16 talent playing Firsts

Its a big drop off after that

The 11 will be QLD schools for sure. A class above

Maybe . QLD Schools carries minimum 4 wingers and maybe a couple of hybrids of guys that could cover 13 or 15 as well

I guess you are talking about Glen Vahui....who I recall played some wing for GT last year and if I’m correct he does have some ability at 13 as well

Good player for sure

But if we’re talking back 3 players ....Grammar’s Hamiso Tabui Fidow is the gold standard and BBC will own the pace in the outside backs for the next 2 years at least with at least 3 guys in a 10.5 to 10.8 range for the 100m sprint

But there are some monsters coming from U16 from State High ( Grant Tuisamoa ) Nudgee ( Tresman Banjo ) and BBC (Xavier Savage ) .......and to a lesser degree IGS - that project to be best over 2 x age group levels. Tuisamoa is the optimal combination of power and grace - and probably the best U16 - 13 to 15 in the age group - maybe anywhere ( including NSW/ACT/VIC/WA ) whereas with Banjo , he is cut from the same cloth as Will Eadie and Jayden Ngamanu - a real flyer )

And then you got to factor in guys like Nudgee’s Ethan Robbins and BBC’s Matt Sterling that are right there or maybe even a bit beyond guys like Glenn Vahui or Simon Maafu - although opinions would differ slightly on this depending on what School you support

And we're still not even factoring in guys in the AIC like SPC's Louis Maritz and MCA's Lachlan Tennison-Woods ( even though there has been some chat of ( bizzarely IMO ) of playing Tennison -Woods at 12 - even though he played wing on last year's MCA First XV ) These 2 are also in the same company as Robbins and Sterling

And we haven't talked about National 7's Rep and last year's No 15 at BBC , Jack Bowyer

TSS's Dion Samuela and Brisbane Grammar's Dennis Waight names also deserve to be in the conversation

But Hamiso Tabui-Fidow should be the first guy picked across 5 or 6 spots across 2 x teams - and there is plenty of quality competition that is Open for the other 4 or 5 spots

GV will be there. Tough, good defender and a great step. And a year of First XV under his belt plus played for the national comp winning u16 QLD Reds............

Tuisamoa might be too focused on his NRL career. He's in the U16 QLD Emerging Origin RL squad with some of last year's QLD u15 union Junior Gold Cup reps - Maconal Grealy, Titi Nofoagatoto, Jack Howarth, Lukas Ripley, Sam Walker and Jamaine Leai.

A couple of good BBC flyers in that mix.

Meh

Does that mean all the other Junior Origin boys will also be concentrating on their potential NRL careers and bypass Schoolboy Rugby Rep ?

I know there is an emerging trend where “ best” in AIC that are also so aligned in league don’t tend to worry about Schoolboy Rugby Rep as a priority .

I hope this changes though as there is genuinely 1 x inside back in AIC that would smoke anyone from any School in either code

A big part of the issue in identification is unreasonable levels of promotion and hype based on unsupported reputation (un supported based on actual performance that y’know , are based on fundamentals and making plays that have impact in winning games - or having the oppprtinity to win games)

The games and match ups matter - and then need to be viewed in proper context taking into account overarching elements of quality / depth of team - combinations etc )

To a very large degree “promoters” in the ID pathway tend to “worship” pretty easily (based on unwarranted Reputations based off boosting) but then struggle to “value”

And if these types don’t understand what this means then therein lies the problem

I mean why should Schoolboy Squads be picked based on what they did in U15 or U16 as a determinant ? And yet they are picked before the start of the GPS Season - and then literally only 2 or 3 get call ups after their Season depending on injury unavailabilities , individual performance and to a lesser degree how the team fared - maybe in the context of that individual’s performance

I mean last year .....how could TSS’s Lachlan Vine and Nudgee’s Hayden Moseley miss out ? I don’t believe either were designated junior “stars” in the Talent ID pathway - but they were probably best in their position last GPS Season

No one deserves to be kissed on the dick and boosted to the next level just because they played on whatever prior junior rep team

Games , and proving yourself in games , based on real data ,matter to fairly and accurately understand who’s who in the zoo

Blanco, you are GO’s best cheerleader...LTM

But I agree with the thoughts on promotion and hype. Good thing that the selectors seem to be looking past personal glory vids on YouTube.

And there were lots of fresh faces in the 15s and 16s QLD squads last year so I can witness the talent ID happening and a healthy turnover from 14s City team to the QLD Red team.

Good to see that past performance is no lead indicator anymore.

It is wonderful no? It’s voice to text software called Dragon. Helps me spell and write English efficiently at same time. That and two months of tutoring from my English nanny.

Alan Cameron (40)
Dragon not Lion eh ?

I guess it completely does sentence structuring too and probs helps you out with Nanny Porn fantasies

Cool
