Fair go. Gordy has been doing a good job - but, had to laugh with last season when it was revealed that Ch 10 couldn't afford to send the commentators out to the game, they stayed in the studio and watched the Fox sports feed and commentated to that! I guess with the radio commentary they will continue to watch the Fox sports feed and talk us through the game on the radio. Actually I think he's ok, but I prefer tv

That’s actually quite common.........

I won't listening. His apparent inability to recognise the players drives me nuts.

That's the beauty of it being on radio. You can be blissfully unaware of any misidentification of players.

That'd be true if I wasn't going to also watch the game. Until I read Bray's name I had been thinking about having the game on mute on my TV with the radio commentary on like I do with the Cricket. So I'd have known and would have been equally as frustrated by it.

I have had little respect for Bray as a caller for many years. Absolutely refused to watch test matches on FTA even though the Fox muppets are very annoying. Tonight forced to listen to him, but worst part was the replay going full blast on about 7 seconds delay giving a repeat commentary and sometimes drowning out the live action. Think someone must have complained because it stopped sometime during the second half.

Yep, Robbie Nock on Eurosport, calling the Top14 games for Oz telecast, does just that in a room in Paris. Does a good job of it, even though the limitations would be significant.

They really have no idea....

Forced out, rugby’s poster boy tackles ARU over using his image

Andrew Burrell
The Australian
WA Chief Reporter, Perth

Like thousands of other rugby fans in the west, 11-year-old Sam Harding was shattered when his favourite team, the Western Force, was axed from the Super Rugby competition last year.

Now the sports-mad Perth boy is dumbfounded and “a bit *annoyed” that the Australian Rugby Union is using a photograph of him as the star of a *national campaign to try to sell tickets to Wallabies matches.

Rugby fans across Australia received an email from the ARU this week promoting the three-Test series against Ireland in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney that included a photo of Sam taken in the crowd at a Wallabies match in Perth last year.

“As a valued member of the junior rugby community we are delighted to offer you a special ticket offer for the June series,” the email said.

Sam’s father Steve, who is also a coach at the Cottesloe Junior Rugby Club, said he found it ironic the ARU had chosen a child from Western Australia for its advertising after the decision to axe the Force had caused such anger.

Mr Harding said it was also ironic that the number of children playing rugby at the club, and across WA, had been growing strongly in recent years. “It’s typical of the ARU’s maladministration that they would use Sam’s image,” Mr Harding said.

“As a kid in WA, Sam doesn’t have the opportunity to see live rugby. The Force have been scrapped and the Wallabies aren’t even coming here for this series.”

As he trained with dozens of other passionate juniors, Sam said his interest in watching rugby had fallen away since the Force were axed — a decision that still makes him “very sad”.

Instead, he will be attending Perth Glory matches in soccer’s A-League and West Coast Eagles matches in the AFL. “Rugby used to be my absolute favourite sport and I went to every Force game,” he said. “But now cricket, soccer and (Australian rules) football have gone up in the rankings.”

Sam said while he was annoyed the ARU had used his image, he could only think of one solution that would appease him. “They should fly me to Sydney to watch the Wallabies game,” he said.

A spokesman for the ARU yesterday apologised to the Harding family.

“We have attempted to reach the family of the young Wallabies fan to apologise for any upset caused by his image appearing in the email,” he said.

Since the Force was cut from Super Rugby, Perth mining magnate Andrew Forrest has announced plans to create his own Indo-Pacific Rugby Competition that would include the Perth-based club.

The IPRC competition is set to kick off next February but has not received a formal sign-off by Rugby Australia.

^^^ they would have been given a bank of photos and chose one. They wouldn’t have known who it was or where it was taken.

I was gutted when the Forced were axed, but even I’m getting tired of some of the things Force fans try to find issue with. There is strong support for WA but the goodwill and support is being eroded.

Mate I'm over it all myself and am trying to move on as can been seen by my lack of posting on this forum and others, my love for the game is gone. I wont lie this weekend was tough seeing everyone being able to go and support their team but thats the way it has transpired.

But this just shows the disconnect that the ARU have. Sure they would have had a heap of pics to choose from, the article nor i am trying to say there was any malice involved but just it shows how poorly ran the place is.

To put a WA kid on the front of their marketing for this years rugby saying hey come watch up when their is no professional rugby AT ALL (at this stage)being played in this state. As soon as i received the email i new it was a pally junior it stung.

And something which also hasn't been mentioned anywhere expect from TWF which has come from the Board involved the IP rights for of the Force. Ultimately the transfer to the ARU in 2016 led to the teams demise (by coincidence or design you decide).

Back in December is was trumpeted that the IP rights had been returned and all was right again in the world and RugbyWA now had control of it to do as they please. Turns out that's not correct.

The ARU still own the IP rights and have leased it to RugbyWA with an option to buy it back. Nothing has changed the ARU still control the name just like before we had a buy back option however they killed us before that was able to occure and refused any sort of deal. My distaste for the ARU knows no limits at the moment and i regrettably long for their demise.

Say what you want about support and goodwill from fans of other teams but the hurt is real and no one other than Force fans truly understand.

Thats all i will say on this probably my last post on this forum for a while.

Gaffa, I can’t imagine what it’s like.
For your own sake, I’d recommend staying out of TWF for a while.

From the daily roulette wheel:

13 hours ago - MICHAEL Cheika has revealed he will walk from the Wallabies coaching job if he does not lead his team to victory at the Rugby World Cup next year.Cheika is off contract at the end of 2019 and, far from keeping cards close to his chest, the 50-year-old has set himself a win-or-walk ultimatum …

If he wins, awesome!

But, realistically, 5-and-a-bit years will be a fair innings from Cheika.

He's a motivational kind of coach. Not sure he's one of those rare types that can pull off a nine or ten year stint.

Probably the right move on his part.

The fuck do we do afterwards. Larkham? blah
